Kim Kardashian has redifined the standard of beauty, agree?

I know everyone hates Kim Kardashian and thinks she's all plastic and fake but you can't deny the fact that she has changed people's perception of beauty. Before the definition of beauty was a tall, skinny, fair skinned, blonde woman. Girls would starve themselves just to be considered beautiful. Now Kim has changed the standard to "embrace your curves" and curves are now considered beautiful. Black women were previously laughed at and mocked for having curves in the past, we all know the story of Saartjie Baarthan, an African women who was mocked and exhibited in a zoo by Europeans for having a big butt and even raped. Same goes for pouty big lips, black women were mocked for this and now, pouty lips are embraced. Thank you Kardashians!

  • What the hell? Do women have one single hive-minded shared definition of beauty or something?

    Nobody has ever defined beauty for me except me -- and there is no single "definition" or "standard." I like muscular women and I like soft women. I like light women and I like dark women. I like women who are all brains, and I like women who are all feels. I like 'em tall and I like 'em short.

    But I am not trying to say everyone is beautiful. Not everyone is, but it can never be constrained into something as petty as these things.

    Right now, "supermodel" beauty is defined by women and gay men in the fashion scene, and it doesn't represent what your average guy or girl thinks. Fashionistas obsess over skinny (and I mean SKINNY -- to the point of disgust) women because it's hard to make cloth for curvy and fat people. They want human coat-hangers. I want meat and fat.

    Also. Kim Kardashian is a the daughter to a mother that is of Dutch, English, Irish and Scottish ancestry, while their father was a third-generation Armenian American. The only strand of black she has in her is kayne's dick.

  • I do agree that she has participated in redefining beauty but I do not think she deserves all the credit. Beyonce, JLo and even Marilyn Monroe have changed the perception of a desired body shape. Instead of only skinny body shapes being embraced, curves are also being embraced and now women of all racial borders can be happy with their bodies not just Europeans.

  • Yes but not in a good way. Her body is unachievable without surgery. This has contributed to the rise of plastic surgery and extreme makeup such as contouring.

    Women should embrace their body shape for what it is. Kim K does the exact opposite making women and girls feel like fakery is the only way to be beautiful.

  • not too sure about this one. u can say she added a new definition of beauty but i dont think she has redefined it. if that were so, models would have her shape.

    also, beauty is one of those things that will never have a fixed definition. it'll always be in the eye of the beholder.

  • I agree with you completely. She has taught woman to embrace their curves and love their bodies. Previously women were laughed at for having big butts now women are being laughed at for having flat asses. Beauty has reversed to non-European standards😄 pouty lips, darker skin, hourglass figure, dark hair

  • Nope, people liked curvier women a good while ago... the whole idea of stick thin 'models' has really only been a thing since the supermodel era and the media making that out to be the gold standard. Besides it's not exactly something you take from a gal who has had surgery to 'embrace her curves', her and Paris Hilton only seem to give the impression you can become famous for nothing more than a sex tape...

    • Some women have a naturally curvy body shape, does that make them sex objects? Are they suppose to get surgery to look less sexual according to what you have said? They haven't chosen to have this body shape, it is how they are naturally built.

  • She has way too big ass to be beautiful. I think she redefined standards of beauty only in this nowadays obesity-occupied world (she gives hope to fat people).

    • You do realise there are African women and women of other races that have butts equally as large or even bigger than Kim K NATURALLY. Would that still make it okay for you to say their butts are too big for their bodies to be considered beautiful. If they are naturally built like that and have no control over it, are they suppose to get surgery to conform to your standards?

    • She photoshops her butt to look bigger. Because it is an ideal for some people. Of course who has naturally (with healthy lifestyle) big butt, then it is OK. But most people have them from fast food and leisure life. Everybody should keep his/her body natural, that is great :) But she photoshops her body to look like that, and this I dont like. And there are no standards.
