Should prostitution be legal?

The Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, was caught trying to solicit prostitutes.
It says that the women there are held against their will, which I'm not in favor of.

I think prostitution should be legal because then it creates a black market and it makes it dangerous for the sex workers. Plus, it's odd that having sex in front of a camera for money (aka porn) is legal, but having sex without a camera (aka prostitution) isn't?

What are your thoughts? Should prostitution be legalized?

  • No.
Do I think all prostitutes and Johns should be deported?
    Yes.
Do I care what bad things befall any of them?
    No.

  • Every person, man or woman who are active in the sex business should be executed

    • Damn that's a pretty extreme opinion. So strippers, porn stars, prostitutes- they should all die?

    • Okay i admit i was joking, but only partly. I think anything that involves sex and money is disgusting. Strippers are okay i guess, but i absolutely hate porn and everyone whos part of it. The distribution and consumption of porn should be illegal in my eyes. Im not religious at all, i just hate porn more than anything in this world

    • Why? If they all consent and are adults, why are you so against it?

  • Prostitution should be decriminalized, rigidly regulated, licensed and taxed. Regulation would involve frequent STD tests, drug tests and oversight to prevent sex trafficking/sex slavery.
I have two viewpoints regarding it. The religious viewpoint says NO but the Libertarian one says consulting adults entering into an agreed exchange of value, with regulation reducing peripheral criminal activity.

  • Doesn't matter if i disagree with the behavior, its not affecting me, i don't take part in it. I don't like that men and women take part in it, but it doesn't mean it should be illegal.

  • Legalize it, and have the Federal Government tax and regulate the shit out of it.

  • Yes, it should be legal, regulated and taxed.

  • hell yea it should be legal. and if you get aids from that prostitute, you knew the risks and should be euthanized.

  • Will be safer if it was legal

  • it is where I'm from and it's the right thing

    • Sweet, where you from?

    • @virginme Germany

    • Damn.. I gotta visit Germany soon. 😎🍻

  • It has proven impossible to stop.
Thus make it legal and tax it.

    • The tax should also be ridiculously high to further discourage its use in my opinion.

  • Yes.

  • Prostitution is not illegal in my country. I think it's better to legalize it and regulate it... like giving periodic health check ups to discard any STIs. Illegal prostitution is a hazard to public health.

  • well it is where i live. i don't see a problem with it being legal, cause that decriminalizes the whole industry. no need for human trafficing and other crimes that usually go along with it. it makes the business more clean, cause as a customer you'll rather go into a well kept establishment that sticks to all the regulations than into a shady dirty backally place.

    • having said that, i grossly disagree with paying for sex overall but it's my life and my decision so i don't get to decide for everyone.

  • I feel it should be legalized, but there’s no way for the government to profit from it (I. e. place a tax on it), so it probably never will.

    • Couldn't they tax it like any other profession?

  • Nah.
It's even better if porn becomes illegal too...

    • I'm not a fan on porn to. What's you're reason?

    • What's wrong with porn?

    • A lot of negative side effects.

  • Prostitution is legal, just not in the USA ;)

Yes it's legal in civilized countries, where personal freedom matters.

"The land of the free", well not really, of course, you can always record the sex and call it porn, then it's legal in the USA.

  • Legalize, regulate, and tax it. Much safer for everyone. This is America and in America you should be free to do whatever you want to.

  • Hell yeah. Respect prostitutes ✌👍 honest & straight foreword.

  • No! Don't you think this world goes wrong enough nowadays?

    • and by making it illegal we can stop prostitution and make a better world? that's not how it works. prostitution has existed forever and will exist forever, no matter what the law says. you increase the danger for the sex workers by making it illegal and make it difficult for them to get help. by legalising it, you can offer help to the sex workers, give them insurance, take them out of the shady places where they get threatened and abused. you have better possibilities to fight human trafficking and can let those people who are okay with doing it live their life the way they want. legalising doesn't mean that you should promote it or make it an attractive job. it's about making it easier and better for the sex workers

    • @LiLaLydia Oh really? How can you be that sure?

    • sure about what? I said many things. that it won't go away by making it illegal? It has existed for thousands of years and there is not one country where prostitution is illegal and doesn't exist. also there are plenty of studies about it. and that a sex worker is more likely to get help (and accepts help) when they don't have to admit that they are working illegally and risk getting fined or even into jail should be self-evident
