In my humblest opinionated self neither. Because Romance is like buying or acquiring a new apparatus for awhile its got you going until the luster dulls then what? Sex the same thing and what's worse us when you're not real!! So everything taken or given is not at face value. Seeing eye to eye. Being on the same page and allow a small minute amount attitude, issues drama and shit no more then 5%. Now everything goes great because you're always working in sync not against. And being mature enough to understand life. You will then and only then discover a rare but often desired place or resort known as peace. Nothing like it. Remember what you think you want you don't and what you think you don't want you do.

One thinks that essentiality of both cannot be ruled out and one should not try to differentiate b/w the two either.
Talking about the fundamentals of a relationship it somewhere started having two different kinds of origin may be sympathy from girls side and attraction from boys side. Taking into cognizance girls are take by their ears and boys by eyes.
Then comes belief system, love pours in and romance is followed by sex, which makes the cycle complete. However in complex situations one may feel the difference b/w the two and must be talked upon.

In my opinion, Romance is the more important part of a relationship. You have to express your love and care for your partner. Sex is still a important factor in a relationship, but if you good romantic bond then it will automatically lead to sex and not just any sex, you will be making love.

Romance , in the broad sense of the term, ie , not a "summer fling" type of "romance", but a soul-joining, intimate partnership- THAT is a true romance. If it's just sex, that is more like simple lust fulfillment, not real romance.
