Females who violates those religious laws are often murdered by family members. "Honor killings" are condoned in many regions in Europe, South Africa, and Asia. A recent study of the predominantly Kurdish area of Turkey found little if any stigma is attached to honor killings. Every year 400 to 500 women are brutally killed in Iran to protect men's "honor". The killers are usually close members of the victim's family. Honor killings are sometimes done to males who shamed a family by having sexual relations with a female of that family.

I guess it's like they see women (girls) as a blank sheet of paper and, as soon as something is written on it, even just a mark or two, it's no good anymore and, men are the pencil.
