I suspect for a lot of guys it is a combination of having their sexual pathways formed by watching porn, which a lot of the time features anal, so they form a mental association between anal and arousal.

Another possibility is the taboo nature of anal, the fact that many girls will say no, and that it is (in some people's eyes) quite naughty. It isn't something that happens every day and is less socially acceptable than oral and PIV, so that can add an extra layer of spice when a girl says yes.

A guess a lot of girls might not even let a guy tease the area around their butt hole, so they don't know how stimulating and erogenous it can be.

So I love it as a guy. I mean as a guy you can not go to the well too often, like maybe 1 in every 3 times at the most. But as a guy I love it... no I would not want any one putting anything in my ass, so I totally get it if its not your thing. I've only had anal sex twice. The first time, my friend was ovulating and we didn't have a condom. It solved the problem and was good but not great.
