Sexual Health Why does my girlfriend grab my throat during sex? I am confused?

When she initiates sex she will often grab me by the throat with her hand & push me onto the bed or couch. Then when we have sex she always positions herself on top by force & won't do any other positions because she says she wants to be in control. I don't mind her riding me but again when she is on top she will often put one of her hands around my throat in a choking motion and stare directly into my eyes. She will usually also put her face right up close to mine & the second I break my eye contact with her she will squeeze my throat tighter and increase her grip which will instantly make me look back into her eyes again. A couple of times she has also shouted the words "look at me bitch" in an aggressive demeanour which is very intimidating when she also has her hand around my throat. I don't understand why she does this and it is confusing me. She has also slapped me in the face quite hard during sex on a few occasions and said "take it bitch" to me. I tried telling her that I am not her 'bitch' but she will either increase her grip on my throat or slap me again. I especially don't understand why she smiles while doing this? I do find it a bit scary & intimidating. Would her age have anything to do with it because she is older than me? I am 23, she is 28. Apart from this issue our relationship is absolutely fine and we do not have ANY other problems. She is actually very sweet and acts kind of shy around me the rest of the time usually so I don't understand it. Why would she be suddenly acting this way when we have sex? She seems to suddenly become very aggressive.
