Women are more receptive to strange men who are compatible for making healthy babies when ovulating. There have been multiple studies on it. When not ovulating, women are more drawn to familiar and safe men.

For example, studies showed women are much more attracted to large, muscular men with strong jawlines and higher testosterone levels when ovulating. When not ovulating, women preferred men with softer faces and dad bods because those men made better fathers, husbands, and long term partners.

I was in Mexico, at the ruins of Palenque, in a little campsite about 5 km away, camping with some other travelers. I would say the same reason any man would sleep with a stranger. The lust, being horny, just want to have a good night. When I was much younger and around 20, this was still a fairly common thing because the "sexual revolution" was still going on with women who were say, 30 and up.
