Sexual Health Guys, Why would a guy avoid cumming around a girl?

I recently started seeing this guy and we have had sex once and fooled around in other ways but he seems to be avoiding finishing with me? He always makes sure I’m pleased and he doesn’t have an issue with getting hard it’s just that he seems to stop things just before he cums. When I’m giving him head I know he’s getting close and then he will say something or have me stop before he finishes and I don’t know why? The first time we had sex he explained that it wasn’t a big deal that he didn’t cum and that I shouldn’t worry about it but then a week or so later he told me that the first time we had sex he actually did cum even though there wasn’t much evidence for it which leads me to believe he could be lying. So I’m thinking he wants me to think that he did for some reason? I’m just confused because we really like eachother and I want to please him but he just seems to be avoiding cumming altogether and will only let himself get close. Is this something wrong with me or does he have some other reason as to why he has been doing this you think?
