Would you rather get shower in a locker room surrounded by other people, or wait till you get home?

Basically are you comfortable showering and being naked in a non sexual way around others, or would you rather drive home sweaty and stinky so you can shower privately.

If you feel comfortable answering, why?

  • Funnily enough, when I was in high school, I completely avoided being naked in front of others as much as possible. Although I was on the swim team, so not much for the imagination there, hah.

What's funny is that as I've gotten older, I'm becoming more comfortable with myself, my body, and I'm actually starting to really enjoy being naked. Like, if I'm home by myself, the clothes immediately come off, and I'm chilling naked. I think this may have started when I was in my twenties- I started pushing myself to break out of my shell. When a friend needed models for her art project, I volunteered, and spent the next three weekends completely naked with two other guys - other friends of mine- while our art student friend covered us in paint, positioned us all over the place, staged us, and took countless photos for her thesis. The photos, including one of my genitals ( and it was cold!) were posted in the art gallery at her school, so literally hundreds of people have seen me naked.

At various parties, I also tended to lose clothing throughout the night. So over time, I definitely got used to being naked around others. Now, if I were in a gym and needed to shower, I'd probably just strip and get the water going.

  • Two things. First of all, I never find myself "sweaty or stinky" even after a basketball game, and we usually played either at Firestone Gym, and it was colder than hell outside in the winter, and I never wanted to shower and immediately walk to the car in 30 degree weather even dressed warmly.

Secondly, as you say, I just did not want to be in a 'strange' locker room and shower, naked with a bunch of strangers i. e. other team members.
My apartment, at the time, was close, and I dried off with my towel, and went home and showered.
On rare occasions did I shower away from home.

  • I never really cared. I was always fine changing and showering at school in front of people. I remember once in rotc the girls being out in the backroom and the boys being in the main class... we were serrated by a door. And one of the girls asking was anyone gay or anything. And I'm just like idc and changing. I never really felt weird about it around other females. Just to me was a part of school... like changing during gym, or showering after. Or like that day having to change to get our rotc uniforms

  • I do not mind using locker room showers or changing in front of others, except with coworkers, which is the only time I do shower in locker rooms - can't go swimming without it. Hate getting in - getting out isn't as bad since one goes up before the other. 😅

  • Personally, I much rather shower at home. While I am not uncomfortable being naked around others, more specifically when showering around teammates in the locker room, I prefer to shower at home for hygienic purposes and relaxation. Beginning with hygienic purposes, public showers are often havens for conditions such as athlete's foot. While wearing flip-flops in the shower can circumvent athlete's foot, I prefer showering without shoes, which is a safer option in my own shower at home. If I'm in a place where I'm practically required to wear flip-flops to prevent getting a condition, I'm not likely in a clean environment. I prefer clean environments. Regarding relaxation, I prefer to shower in my own home as long as I desire without rushing so others can use the shower. Whenever I rush a shower, I never feel fully clean. I always feel fully clean, relaxed, and refreshed whenever I shower at home. This isn't to say that I don't use public showers, as I have ran track before and showered with my teammates quite often, but when given a choice between whether I prefer the public or home shower, I'm picking my home shower every single time. As for riding home sweaty and stinky, sure, that's fine. I can tolerate my own sweat and funk just fine.

  • I used to feel self conscious at school but as I've got older and even at public gyms etc it really doesn't bother me, we're all in the same position and I kinda just get a shower and get ready, no-one is bothered, I quite often chat to people whilst showering or in the changing room

  • The locker rooms I regularly attend all have private showers as well as open spaces for showering. I always choose private showering unless all private areas are taken and I have no choice. But then, usually, I'm the only one showering in public. I never drive home stinky. But I rarely have to shower in a public space. If you feel uncomfortable doing a public shower, always bring a towel from home to cover your car seat, so it won't stink up. That's the easiest solution.

  • I'd rather wait till I get home. Although I'm far more concerned about athletes foot than being nude in the gym shower. So, before I moved on to working out at home. I just put a towel on my seat, for sweat, and drove home from the gym. Rather than changing there.

Way back in high school. When you had to use the locker room for PE. I was extremely careful with changing to make sure my clothing and feet never touched the floor. By standing on the top of my shoes while changing.

  • I always waited til i was home. In HS, these idiots would give us PE as the first class in the morning and most of us just refused to go all out because we knew we had to stay at school sweaty if we did

  • I used showers after gym class in middle school all of the time. Other girls told me not to because they thought it was either: 1. Embarrassing or 2. Gross. I think it feels nice to put on your clothes after you've washed the sweat off of you instead of sweat on you.

  • I shower there, its not a big deal at all. Locker rooms are segregated by gender. Also, I don't want my car smelly

    • Agree

  • I like being naked, so I have no problems showering in a public setting.

  • i use gym showers all the time and i change in the locker room at work around other ladies, so no big deal for me

  • The purpose of a locker room is that you can be nude in it. I would rather shower surrounded by other people than put my street clothes on while I'm all sweaty or covered in pool chlorine. Its just skin... nothing to be afraid of.

  • I have done both. It is a very short drive home and I can shower at leisure and get clean clothes instead of the clothes I had been wearing that day. So either way works, though if it was a mixed sex shower I think I would enjoy that more. lol

  • I don't have any insecurities.

Plus, I expect the other ladies in the country club to have the same decorum as I do.

    • I can say. Been shower in locker rooms for years, and never once seen or felt anything inappropriate

  • I have no issue showering in the open in a locker room. We all have the same parts. I was on the high school and college soccer and swim teams and the guys always showered naked and in the open it is no big deal. In the gym I go to there are open showers. We should not be ashamed of our naked bodies!

  • I don’t shower at the gym. I take my sweaty ashh home and shower there. Not because I’m afraid people will watch but more so I find those showers absolutely disgusting

    • I am surprised. You are the first person to make this statement

  • I would always prefer to shower at home rather than locker room. I am comfortable being around other people it's just a preference, maybe I just love my shower. 😁

  • I always shower at home

  • Let's say we are at the gym. I shower 🚿 there, even though it's 5 minutes drive away from home 😁. So i have no problem if there is people at the locker room

  • Doesn't bother me to be naked in front of a group in the locker room. I honestly prefer to shower before I put my clothes on

    • agree

  • There are no private showers in the military. You learn get over it.

  • I've never used a public shower, and generally don't like the idea, for non-sexual reasons. Maybe if it wasn't segregated by gender and I had tape on, I'd consider it. But most likely, just go home. It's easier.
