Average time of actual sexual intercourse?

Hi all, I'm a late boomer who just started having sex.
My boyfriend helped me to overcome my insecurities and overcome my fear of being with another person in bed. And he's been very patient and caring... never pushed me to try things that I do not enjoy and feel uncomfortable with.

We now had sex about 10 times.. and I think i'm getting used to having him inside me (?) finally...
However I'm not sure sex we are having is normal... or not.. something that I need to worry about..

So basically, when we have sex... he enters me and moves back and forth about 2-4 minutes in one position (missionary) and cum. I mean.. I can cum within 1 minute as soon as he enters me and moves around a bit... so I feel like it is not a problem. BUT I've read questions here people saying they tried several sex positions during the intercourse... which I think would take more than 2-4 minutes to try different positions..

I googled average time of sex.. and it says actual penetration is about 3-5 minutes...
Could you share your experience? Do you think 2-4 minutes of sex is.. something I should concern about? Thank you x

  • first off, there is no set time limit for sex. as the old Hawaiian saying goes "you get there when you get there". as for the sex part and whether you're doing everything right , the only ones that know what they're doing is you. if you think of something to try , don't be afraid to tell your partner. every single session of sex is a learning experience. you don't have to do the same thing over and over again. when you experiment, you start realizing what you do like , what you do extremely love , and what scares the hell out of you.

  • Well statistical average is 7 minutes. That said, one, if its not an issue why care? I mean its also statistically average for a woman not to orgasm from penetrative sex, not hearing any woman complain about not having that issue. Two, sex does tend to be short but you can change positions and try new things, nothing wrong with that, and three, if you wish it to last longer, generally speaking that requires sessions of sex i. e. if he orgasms the second time around he can generally speaking, last longer, so doing that will help it last longer (but again, if your satisfied why mess with something that isn't broken?).

  • 3-5 minutes is average? What the fuck? People seem to be having the shittiest sex ever. I don't exactly time the sex I have with my boyfriend... but excluding foreplay I'd say we usually have penetrative sex for maybe 10-20 minutes? And sometimes longer if we feel like it.     2-4 minutes of sex is something you should feel concerned about if it's not making you satisfied. Personally I'd be bored with just doing it missionary (even if it's one of my fav positions) and him getting off so quickly. I like switching it up more and changing positions, which usually also prolongs the act in general. Helps keep the tension going without releasing it. If you're not satisfied then you should talk with your boyfriend and explain to him that you want to try new things, switch positions and try to keep going for a bit longer. But if you're satisfied with that, then I guess you shouldn't be concerned.

    Usually my sessions last over an hour (especially with my ex who is amazing in bed) which is foreplay, hands, oral from him and then we have sex, change positions a couple of times, move around, do a bit of edging, then I either finish him with oral or he finishes in me. It's deffo not 5 minutes of missionary. That is terrible, terrible sex. So penetration is usually at least 20-30 mins and the rest is oral and hands and fooling around.

    If he hasn't had any in like a week, it could be 2-4 minutes or if he can't ejaculate it's like 40 minutes.

But it's normal , coz once we orgasm it takes us longer to orgasm 2nd time and if we had sex last night it will be similar effect as if we did orgasm in same night but it's less effective and make us last around 15 min more If we did orgasm let's say now. Next time intercourse would last 10 minutes And 3rd intercourse would last 30 minutes Etc.. got the idea :D That if the battery is good to run 3 times in a raw or in same night etc..
