  • Often, guys will end the FWB relationship once the woman starts hinting or talking about getting exclusive after a few months.

And the guys have every right to bail out: wanting to go from FWB to exclusive boyfriend-girlfriend is a bit like changing the terms of a business contract: if both partners don't agree, the business is over.

Remember: If you want the prospect of a committed, exclusive boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, do not enter an FWB relationship. It's that simple.

  • I would guess that quite often they end after a brief period because the female develops an emotional attachment which spoils the FWB situation. A man could maintain the relationship much longer typically due too their different mental patterns.

  • I've been in a FWB relationship exclusively for going on 3 years now, (and it was him who initiated the exclusive talk not me) The sex just keeps getting better & better. I don't know if some day he will just pull the pin and end it, but after this long he gives me no signs that he's thinking about ending it, in fact he has started initiating sex more frequently in the last 4 or 5 months. I guess how long a FWB thing lasts depends on the people involved.

    • Yours sound like its going great, mines is okay on the emotional end. I'm pretty surprised I can handle it without getting attached but my main peve is, he makes me wait! It's like am I the only one who likes sex often?! Sometimes its 2 to 3 weeks of a wait from whenever I ask!

    • When My guy & I first started having sex it was like once a month and sometimes not for 2 months. Last month I saw him 3 times in one week, we were together 5 times in January. I find the more I push the situation the more he backs off, if I'm not home to answer my phone when he calls he will call my cell and home phone until he get a hold of me, sometimes 4 or 5 times. He can't stand the thought of me not being there when he wants me although he is not willing to be there whenever I want him.

    • So maybe I should back off a bit and let him initiate more . . .

  • I guess it will go on until one of you end it,. I have been it one for awhile now , but it is frustrating when I intimate it and he goes silence. If this is what he wants why does he go silence when I ask?

  • Most girls initiate the Talk at around the 3-month mark, but I've had an FWB for two years, and another for five.

    • Did you ever pursue a real relationship with either of them?

  • If he gets into a relationship he will either want to keep the FWB thing with you and cheat on his new girlfriend or he will end it with you. He'll probably expect the FWB thing to come back though if this relationship fails. But until he finds someone else, there really isn't a reason for a guy to end a FWB thing unless he wants more (a relationship) or he finds something better. At least, that's how I see it.

  • I've been wondering the same thing.

It seems to me that he would get tired of the same girl, and go look for someone new.

I guess it just depends on the guy...

    • Or the girl lol
