Ladies, what type of birth control do you use?

Share your experience with different forms in the comments. Personally, I have used the pill and the ring, which I hated, and now I have the copper IUD, which I absolutely love.

  • I got the nexplanon implant put into my arm when I was 15 for ovarian cyst issues. They told me most women skip theyre period all together with the implant in, however I bleed for 6 months straight after they put it in (I am also anemic). I was told the nexpalnon needed to stay in place for 2 years, so they put me on the pill to counteract the bleeding, and that worked great! The 2 years were up and I got the nexplanon removed. Now the birth control pills dont seem to be helping with my period (in supposed to skip them and onky have one every 3 months according to my doctor), i was still experiencing break through bleeding every month. Now I've been switched over to another pill thats more targeted towards my issues, and so far I think it's working but I've only been on it for a month.

  • I used to take the pill, but it completely shut down my libido (along with some other side-effects like headache and mood swings). I tried another brand and had the same result. Therefore I'm only using comdoms now because I do not want to mess around with my hormonal household anymore.

    • That's why I love my Paragard IUD so much. The hormonal stuff made me feel crazy, but Paragard is non-hormonal, and I love it.

    • I'm too scared of it ^^'

    • I totally get that. It's certainly not for everyone, and if it doesn't mesh well with your body, the side effects can be pretty nasty. But I was fed up with the hormonal shit, and didn't want to have to start using condoms again with my fiance (now husband) so I just went for it, and I loved the results.

  • I've got the copper iud which is he best I've been on. I've had the pill, injection, and implant.. I hated the injection and implant and the pill you had to take everyday. My favourite pill was the one with the 7 day break

    • ParaGard is the bomb! I've felt soooo much better since I quit hormonal birth control and started using it.

    • Yeah me too, plus it's a bonus that it lasts for 10 years lol

  • I have studied many of these in my textbook but what are vaginal douche, contraceptive patch and vaginal ring?

    • Douching is a highly an effective method of birth control where you essentially rinse out the vagina after sex to get rid of the semen. The patch is like a nicotine patch but for hormones that keep you from ovulating. You just put it on the skin and you're good to go. The ring is a flexible rubber ring that is inserted into the vagina and releases hormones over the course of the month to keep you from ovulating.

    • Hormonal contraception is effective but i dont believe that douching should be effective coz while washing u can also push some of the sperm inside the uterus. The most effective method for women that i have studied is progesterone/progestrogen weekly pills.

    • Highly inaffective* Let me be clear, douching DOES NOT work.

  • I use Cycle Tracking and the Withdrawal Method. Both each have the same success ratings when done right as nearly any other form of birth control (Actually higher than condoms alone, but lower than celibacy or having my uterus removed), and together they have virtually no fail rate. I had two children earlier in life, and I have not gotten pregnant in over 10 years since starting these methods, I have sex often, and they are all I use. I am very against using unnatural forms of contraception for myself. (I don't care if other people do.) Why risk the side effects when I can get the same results without?

  • I’m currently using the pill but my doctor has recommended using a different type. I’m looking into the shot at the moment.

  • I have a Paragard (non-hormonal) IUD.

  • I had Mirena for 4 years and loved it. Then I got my tubes tied. They did have to cut Mirena out of me cuz my tubes had started to grow around it, but they told me that could happen when I first got it.
The pill sucked. I got pregnant on the pill.

  • I've tried several different brands of birth control pills, the Mirena IUD and now I have the copper Paragard. Honestly I hate all of them and have had terrible side effects to everything. I'm just waiting for the day that my doctor will finally agree to tie my tubes and just let me be done with all of it.

  • What does the little clock pick at the bottom say?

    • Coitus Interruptus

    • I doesn't translate to anything, its meaningless Latin stuff.

    • It's a "fancy" name for the pull-out method, or "interrupting coitus".

  • I hate my IUD though by the way

I miss getting the shot honestly.

    • Bad side effects?

    • Whenever I get cramps I get paranoid that something bad is happening with the IUD. I keep getting it checked and it's OK, but I've heard about people who had serious problems. Plus it really hurt to get it put in. They force open your cervix. Screw that. I never wanna do that again unless I'm actually having a baby. I'm afraid to even get the stupid thing taken out.

  • I've been on like 6 different pills if not more and the one I'm on is progestin only but I started it 3 months ago and missed 2 periods already so idkk

  • Basically I very seldom used anything, but if the timing was right and I could get the stuff in me I would use a spermicide. I've never had anything but bareback sex and much of it was spontaneous and I wouldn't have the spermicide with me. Times when I might have a fuck marathon with a guy for a day or two I would get the plan B pill and take it before 72 hours had passed. Say what you want about STD's, etc, pregnancy by not using protection I fared pretty well for all those wild years.

  • I’m on the pill. It works fine for me. :)

  • used to use the pill and it worked fine, just hated having do take the shit every day only to get a goddamn heart attack when i was late or forgot it. almost everything else has con side effects that outweigh the pros it seems like but i can't say for sure since i haven't tried anything put the pill

    • but* goddamn

  • i drink bleach

  • I have been on the pill for years now, but will shortly be coming off them in the hope of starting a family.

  • I have an implant. And a douche is NOT a contraceptive.

  • The pill is the best.

  • I have the implanon in now but was previously on the pill. Switch to the implanon a year and a half ago. It has worked well for. Stopping my period all together. And no more worrying about missing the pill or anything

  • Abstinence.

  • I have nexplanon. Aka implant

  • Can you pls tell me more on the implant, I'm so interesting in getting it.

    • What would you like to know? I have the implant

    • How is it helping, The difference with other contraceptions, how long is it effective for, the cost...

    • I’m pretty sure it’s effective for like 2 straight years. I think...

  • I was on the pill, but that put me through hell and back with the symptoms, so I stopped taking them. I’m taking a break from them, but if my cramps get worse, I may look into something else
