Its is tough to have a friend with benefits relationship especially if your best friends because those feelings can get stronger adding another element. My advice is before you decide to have sex lay some guidelines or rules so those feelings don't grow like don't say love or something that enhance those feelings. Make it something that is just physically pleasurable and that's it. I have had friends with benefits before and trust me it helps if you both communicate to make sure your on the same page.

I gave my virginity to my best friend. I thought it would be the safer bet he wanted to try sex I want to try sex... it killed the friendship. So at least for personal experience I would say no.

Belive it or not sex is a very intimate act, and after a while
because of that it can be very common for 1 or both parties to develope feeling for the other person.
Look at friends, they startoutknowing each other, hanging out all the time and sometimes they end up more than just friends.

They can, as long as it's just sex, meaningless sex then they can still remain friends, however once the word feelings is used, then your both screwed because it's now complicated for the both of you.
