Sexual Health I know there are some states in the US that has their age of consent at age 16. Here's what I do not understand: Why look down on an 18-year-old wanting to have sex with a 16-year-old? They are both around the same age only by 2 years. Why prevent a teen from having consensual sex with another teen? What's the logic in that? You're still a teenager when you're 19 so why should there be a law restricting a certain age for teens to have consensual sex? But who even follows the law anyway? What's stopping them from having consensual sex when it is out of our control?
My 13yo sister's friend, who is a 17yo that has had sex with my 20yo cousin. Heck, I even had sex with him, and I was 17. Though that is different from what I'm trying to state. What's the point of having a law that nobody is going to follow?

It's 16 where I am from. Following your logic though, if it was 16, we'd see 15 year olds and 17 years olds, should it be 15? Then we'd see 14 year olds and 16 year olds, etc. I think that's the main reason that argument is ignored, they gotta put the limit somewhere.
But 16 can get a license and a job while 15 and 14 can't. 15 can get a learner license but have to wait until a year to get a license. What I'm saying, why not set the age of consent to 16 when 16 year olds can get a license and a full-time job?
I'm fine with 16, but in 10 years we'll have the same discussion about 15 year old. Comparing it to a different license, like a drone flying license or something.
"Consent" is a term of law.
She may be old enough for consent. She is a still child. Some states have statutory rape laws for adults wanting sex with women younger than 18. These women need grow up a little before
I don't see them as children if they have a driver's license and has a job. It's the maturity that counts. Mature 16 year olds are better than childish 16 year olds.
I agree that a 16yo girl or guy has their own choice to be able to choose to consent to sexual activity.

First of all you are not a teen at 18 or 19 you are an adult. But I do believe a 16 year old can concent to sex

Says who? Says the person who drafted the law, that thinks that 18 year olds are considered as adults just because they are out of school by May. Just because we graduate this year, does not make us adults in any way.
