The text part of sexting can be very stimulating to some, mainly women as women are more into literotica. It is certainly far safer than hookups and other forms of casual sex. It is less satisfying for men who are more visually oriented. Adding picture swapping makes it much more appealing for men, and also for many women. However, where text is pretty safe, image exchange can be risky. If a woman does not care if her image is seen by many as long as no one can know it is her image, she can take precautions to ensure it goes that way. Many women who would not mind sharing her images with specific people, do not want to take the chance others might see them, even if impossible to connect them to her.
I do not see a problem with my image being public if no one could connect it to me. So it seems that for those who can enjoy the act of sexting, gaining arousal and orgasm, it is not the same as real sex, but it is far safer in so many ways. And without those worries, it can be easier for some to orgasm, and the variety available can be very stimulating.

If by 'strangers regularly' you mean new people you just encountered, no, not with strangers regularly.

If you mean 'ongoing with people you only know online' - Haven't with anyone in a while. I used to with some ongoing people, but lost touch and frankly I never actively pursued them, they sort of just … happened.

I don't sext with strangers period. I personally find real sex way more stimulating or sexting the person I'm really having sex with. The difference: sexting with a stranger it's more fantasy, because it's just words you don't even know that person can really sexually back up.
