Do you think celebrities should have to publicly apologize for mistakes that they've made?

I feel like it's completely unnecessary with certain things like leaked nudes or sex tapes, things that are meant to be private and are practically harmless.

  • No one has to apologize for anything, but for the sake of their career it’s typically best to apologize.

  • Why?

If they screwed up their lives, cheated on a spouse, injured another person. . . it has nothing to do with me.

But it is funny to see people take a celebrity's mistake so personally.

    • LMAO faxxxx

  • I think they chose to publicly apologize so certain people like them again and they don't lose their image.
Doesn't matter to me because if I don't like someone then I don't like them. No fake apology is going to matter. But they can help some people.

  • In theory I would certainly agree but they have to appreciate they are in the public eye and at followed by adults and children They are paid well and need to keep and set a good example

  • It depends on the mistakes. If it's a mistake that's their choice like rehab for example no but If it's a racial slur or saying something else unacceptable than yes they should publicly apologize

  • Should they, nope but consequences for the lifestyle they chose occur
when higher powers are at play.

  • No, they shouldn’t apologize just because they have a big following. Celebrities are not supposed to be our representation for morality. They are not figures to idolize in EVERY aspect of life. A shitty person can make amazing art or can be super intelligent. The two are allowed to exist. If they don’t apologize then what? You want them to be broke or something? They don’t owe anybody anything. They are still humans with a shit ton of flaws. You don’t go demanding everyone who hurt your feelings to apologize to you so don’t treat the next stranger who’s famous that way. Stop putting people on a pedestal that has zero to do with what they choose to do for a living.

  • celebrities are human at the end of the day, would people be expected to make a public apology for something they may or may not have done 10-50 years earlier in their lives? i dont believe so... forcing people to apologise defeats the point of an apology... it has to come from those who feel genuinely sorry for their actions, and why apologise for something they enjoyed doing?

now if someone apologised for being violent or abusive 10+ years earlier i would question their sincerity, as why not apologise sooner, a late apology only says to me that they worry about their career and not what they did... and their new decision is a publicity stunt to allow them to gain sympathy and acknowledgement not to mention enabling those who are forcing people to speak up or get fired

  • The only thing I have issue with, is when they say they’ve gone on a healthy eating and fitness regime to lose their weight, and down the line you find out they’d had their stomach stapled.
I think that’s something they should have to rectify. Especially if their fans are youngsters. Everything else is bollocks and their own business.

  • They are pawns for the powers that be so it won't make a difference

  • Some things could be left unsaid. But let’s be real they’ll get bashed if they stay quiet and they’ll get bashed if they say something.

  • No. It's how the media game works.

In fact 9/10 the celebrity or their close confidant are the ones who strategically release the material in the first place.

All the media hype and debate raises their profile and base. They then sign a multi million pound exclusive deal for an interview, movie, book or whatever to "tell their side". The public either sides or collides and the media makes more money shaping their image and views.

The celebrity and his team claw in cash, sponsors and deals with their newfound exposure. In fact a "mistake" is usually how a flagging celebrity will revitalise their career. It's how the Kardashians made so much money despite not being half as talented as real actors and TV personalities.

  • Isabel, congratulations on your 1000th question! 👏👏👏 You've made GaG a much better site with your posts. It definitely wouldn't be the same without you. 😀❤
As for your current question, when it comes to something like leaked nudes I don't think celebs need to publicly apologize for being the victim of a hack. The only exception might be if the particular celeb was very outspoken about an issue or held themselves out to be a certain way. And then they did something that showed they were phony hypocrites and that something became public. Then as a matter of PR they might want to make a public apology but it's not something that would matter to me one way or the other.

  • No. Their rights are the same as anyone else's, not more or less. Celebrities should NOT get special privileges. Also, celebrities should stick to entertainment and keep their political views to themselves like any other worker does. In most workplaces you would get fired or disciplined for discussing politics yet celebrities get praised for it. Celebrities are people and should be held to the same standards as everyone else.

  • We haven't reached the point where they take credit for such things, yet? A good, honest cumshot can only elevate my estimations of their leadership potential at the polls.

  • Celebrities do a lot of evil shit behind closed doors. To publicly apologize for all of it would get them assassinated.

  • Of you aren't required to publicly apologize for something then they shouldn't be either.

  • It depends on what they do. No one should apologize for leaked nudes and sex tapes tho. That was totally out of their control.

  • They should apologize only to people they have harmed.

  • Who gives a fuck if they're sorry or not?

They can apologize (or not) if they wish to, but people who try to demand that they apologize are inevitably Karens.
