Do you think celebrities should have to publicly apologize for mistakes that they've made?

I feel like it's completely unnecessary with certain things like leaked nudes or sex tapes, things that are meant to be private and are practically harmless.

  • Some celebrities take their status to think their gods. If they make mistake they should openly apologise.

    • Haha! People don't expect a personal apology? You don't sit in gossip groups where folks talk about what celebrity did this or that. . . and are personally offended?

  • I agree with you

  • Congrats on your 1000th question! To answer your question, I believe celebrities should apologize for something if they genuinely feel sorry for their behavior and not because of public opinion. I feel that people nowadays concede themselves far too often at the behest of the mob. And the only people left that double down and stand affirm are ignorant nitwits whose opinions weren't accurate in the first place. Rather sad state of affairs.

  • Celebrities mistake are most often forgotten, but the general population mistakes are unforgettable.

  • Honestly depends how bad what they did was. But overall no i don't think they should have to publicly apologise for anything. A apology isn't sincere if its given out of public pressure or because their PR manager told them too.

As much as i dislike a lot of celebrities i still believe they are human and make mistakes like everyone else and to have to publicly apologise to the world isnit fair and is none of are business nore are we untitled to apology from someone we don't even know personally.

Im so sick of this cancel culture and people digging up peoples past to catch them out, its so sad. Do these people really take enjoyment knowing they've ruined someone's career over some stupid tweet from 2009 back when that person wasn't offend but 11 years on suddenly is. Im all for taking responsibility and accountability for one's actions but that should be done privately and on their terms. They own no random strangers anything unless they actually did they harm.

  • Depends. Sex tapes are often leaked on purpose by celebrities. Any publicity is good publicity. Some are paid or secretly sell their videos which are then pawned off as leaks.

When a celebrity says something really stupid publicly they should apologize publicly.

  • Yeah, Congratulations on your 1000Th Question But I do agree with you celebrities who do stuff that leaks out on the Internet should be made to publicly apologize

  • That is for the courts to decide. Failing that they should only have to apologize for their beliefs. (Mainly Gwyneth Paltrow and Tom Cruise.)

  • I think they kinda got no choice if the media or fans turn on them they're career is ruined.

So they have no choice but to try and satisfy everyone as much as possible.

Also congrats on the 1000 question must been on here for a long time

  • I voted that they should... Just because people don't leave them alone about it.

  • It depends. If they got arrested before they got famous for drunk driving. It has no affect on the present so no. However if you made a sex tape and it got leaked, then yes. That is not something you should be doing, period. Doesn't matter if it's meant to be private. You chose to do it and it backfired.

    also, things like this.

Do you think celebrities should have to publicly apologize for mistakes that they've made?

Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You cannot say things like that like it's funny. It is most definitely not funny. And if it were a man, there would be rage among women for that man to be imprisoned.

  • People tend to apologize too much unless your a rioter.

    • Celebrities only apologize if they do something to offend woks liberals. It’s a very specific dialogue. Jamie Foxx straight up said “I got to kill who’re people, how great is that?” when he was being interviewed about Django unchained a few years ago. The funny thing is a lot of black people were pissed he said it. But woke white liberals thought it was fine. Just stupid.

  • I've been genuinely within 5 metres of Prince Andrew (I'm guessing he's a celebrity) if that prick is incapable for apologising for being a (comment removed by GAG's legal team)... then I can understand why other celebrities don't feel the need to. lol

    • @beebella Oh and massive congratulations to your 1000th Question! I mean I wish I'd had a better answer for you than this, but hey I think that's a suitable reply and tribute to you, by replying in the same stupid/awkward way as ever lol

  • Only mistakes that were physically harmful to someone innocent or a personal/emotional attack on specific people. I’m strongly against any celebrity, role model, influencer encouraging cancel culture or submissive behaviour to their haters by apologizing for their art forms (Jenna Marbles, Jenny Slate, Lady A, Marta Kauffman) and harmless life choices (Reynolds and Lively marrying on a former plantation site) 🤦🏻‍♂️😤 Disrespectful or not, I wish more people had skin made of bricks with the gall to say “I only apologize for manslaughter or drunken fights! Everything else, I did with intention, therefore any apology from me would be false, so I won’t say it!”

However, I’m tolerant of those celebs who hear what these fans had to cry about and decide not to repeat their actions. But to re-publicise their own notoriety by apologizing? Their career is doomed soon!

  • I think they only apologize to make people feel better, I don’t think they ever actually mean it

  • Why are we holding celebrities to different standards than normal people. they are just people.. No they should not have to publican apologize.. Unless not doing so will cost them their jobs.

  • They should apologize for certain things, for ex. drunk driving. Nudes or sex tapes are part of their private life that don't harm anyone.

  • Depends on the severity but yea accountability is really important to show us accountability and want to change.

  • if you did something wrong, you apollogize. however, i think you shouldn't appologize just cause there's a public outrage, even though you don't actually think what you did was wrong.

  • Well it depends on what it is and if it's offensive enough for an apology. For little things I don't think it needs an apology.

However for bigger things like I remember one time where Steve Harvey made a comment about no one wants to date an Asian guy.

I think he said it on his show too and then there were people making response videos to it and parodies.

I'm not sure if he ever did apologize, but I definitely thought what he said warranted an apology.
