Is circumcision a good or bad thing?

I'm curious as to whether it's considered a good or bad thing whether you're circumcised, uncircumcised or don't have a penis.

I had to pick 'neutral', as I understand the arguments of both sides. Both sides make sense in their own right.

Circumcision has become more of a cultural thing than a medical. I myself am not circumcised due to my East European roots. However, I watched quite a bit of American pornography, where the male performers are circumcised. This had an influence on me to prefer the circumcised look.

I have considered getting circumcised in the low and loose style quite seriously. However, the recovery period and the post-operation care out weighted the benefits. Hence, I gave up on that idea.

Currently, I enjoy the exposed glands and urethra and still have my foreskin. I found a method of keeping the foreskin retracted for hours on end without any adverse effects. I found a method which does not use any elastics or tapes. I simply push the foreskin underneath itself, and it stays locked in place all by itself.

So, I get both the benefits of being circumcised and uncircumcised at the same time. I get nasty responses from both sides in on-line forums: One side says: "Just get cut", the other says "You must keep it forward". I have been seriously practising this for about a year and have no adverse effects.

Good or bad: It all depends on the circumstance. If someone (of either gender) wants to get circumcised as a consenting person, I would support them. If somebody wants to keep their parts as they are, I also support them. I would be encouraging to just keeping the foreskin retracted.

I'm not circumcised, I've been with women that both liked it and a little disturbed by it. As long as you keep it clean that's all that matters. I'm not sure, if it has anything to do with my stamina but as I posted in my question it does take quite a lot for me to cum. I dont know.

Look, we have the entire world against FGM, (Female Genital Mutilation) Female circumcision. (And yes I know they some times remove the clitoris). BUT, no one gives a crap about MALE genital mutilation! No parent has the right to mutilate their sons penis... and for what? HYGENE? Can anyone justify amputating any other body parts, so as to avoid washing them? if it’s THAT important to you, wait until he can decide for himself... say 13y/o? I just wonder how many kids would be happy to have to have surgery on their penis, so that they didn't have to wash it as much? It is SO disgusting that in the 21st century, we still mutilate little boy’s genitals, and there is no worldwide condemnation! They don’t do it in any other western nation. Why still in the US?

Britain circumcises about 7% of boys (almost entirely Jewish and Muslim), Finland is less than 2%, Germany about 10%, France is higher at 14%, but education is working and the French rate is dropping! But the US is the highest secular country on earth. It began in the 1800’s with religious Christian fundamentalists, touting it as a way to stop masturbation... It was believed that no boy could grow-up to be a “good, decent, and moral man” if he could easily masturbate! Today... it is literally fashion! So the child “looks” a certain way! Or some parents say they believe it is “cleaner” there is ZERO medical research to prove that! It is barbaric. If you WANT to be circumcised, there is nothing stopping anyone over the age of 18 from having themSELVES surgically circumcised. Hell, I would drop the age to15 or 16 if the kid wanted it! Why would anyone take that choice away from their sons. I’m not saying I have an issue with the guys who were mutilated as babies... I have an issue with parents sending their babies off to BE mutilated! I say you want your son circumcised? Fine, then you have to watch as the baby screams in agony and goes into shock! (Because there is NO anesthetic used, except a bit of topical applied to satisfy the legal requirement, but they don’t even give that enough time to take effect). Again... it’s barbaric!

I’m neutral on it because everyone has their own preference but for me (and as a Jewish woman), I’ve told my (non-Jewish) husband that we are not circumcising our children. If our sons want to do it when they’re older then that’s fine, at least it would be their decision.

I feel that at this point this is something that is unnecessary. Some people will talk about how it is easier to clean your penis, but I'm thinking is it really so hard to clean that we just have to cut it off? I am circumcised for the record, and I am not a fan, especially of the scars.

The appendix houses multiple beneficial bacteria for your body. As for breasts they are/were essential to nurse the young. All organs have a purpose, yet there are ways that make life safer.
