with the right person yes it is.
Just having sex, like one nighters, you are just doing the physical act, which don't get me wrong can be great esp with the right person.
Having sex with someone that you are close to you get the physical part of the act, but you also get the emotional part as well, the closeness etc.
And once you get to know each other you know what their turn ons are, what makes their eyes roll back and makes them talk in tongues, and whose turn it is to be tied up.
So both have their pluses and minuses.

I personally think it depends. I find Sex not only to be an action of physical feeling, but it can get extremely emotional. It all depends on who your partner is.
