It is heat if the moment. I will definitely not stop to get up and on/off the light to continue. However, to set the mood, i think mild light is good. When you can see what is close to you.
Besides, i think lot of girls will feel bad and take offence if you only try to have sex with closed lights. It might make them feel like they are not good to look at naked.
