Should I wear a nightshirt to bed?

So I'm wanting to start sleeping in a nightshirt or Tshirt that goes down to my knees and I am wondering is there anything wrong with that?

Should I ask my parents to buy me some nightshirts and that I feel like they'd be much more comfortable?

  • There is nothing wrong with that that I'm aware of.

I wore nightshirts sometimes when I was a kid. They're alright. They're pretty comfortable when you're wearing them before sleep. To be honest, as functional PJs... they're not all that great to be honest.

I suppose it depends on if you sleep on your stomach or back and how much you roll around... but for me, it basically ended up being a t-shirt with the bottom of the nightshirt bunched up or doubled over under my stomach and chest with nothing at all covering my legs.

So functionally (while actually in bed), it ends up being the equivalent of a regular large shirt, no pants, and a bunch of extra shirt material bunched up where nobody needs it to be.

They are comfy BEFORE getting into bed though.

But I see no downside to trying. I mean... they're not overly expensive; you can always go back to whatever you wear now; and worst-case-scenario... you have a night of slightly less-that-normally-comfortable sleep.

This seems like a low-risk gamble to me. I would go for it.

Also, you win for cutest question I've seen today. For sure. Thank you for making me smile. I love that you were sitting there thinking about this, and decided you'd like some outside input. That's freaking awesome. I hope I have a kid like you someday.

  • Yeah if that is how you want to sleep then go for it. I have found most people seem to prefer something short and tight rather than something long and loose. Like my girlfriend used to sleep in a crop top and panties most nights or a tank top and then yeah either panties or shorts. Not usually both. But sometimes. The thing is the looser cloths tends to get wrapped around you and uncomfortable. Or they ride up. Some girls have lost their top just from rolling around and what not.

  • Yes, if you want to change your style of nightwear, then of course, just ask your parents. Tell them as you are no longer a child you don’t think that pyjamas are suitable anymore. Personally, I could never sleep in pyjamas, but then again in our family, everyone has always slept naturally, that is nude. For me being naked is the only truly comfortable way to sleep. Anyway, try a nightdress, or try nothing. See what you like best.

  • i wore pajamas as a little girl and when i was a teenager i started wearing just a t shirt and panties and socks to bed and it's much easier and more comfortable for me. i don't want to sleep naked (unless i'm with a guy) and pajamas are just too much clothes for me. i would get all tangled up in a nightshirt but if you like it then do that

  • A good night's sleep is very important, especially at your age. If what you're wearing is preventing a good night's sleep, tell your parents. I have four daughters, two are currently teens, and that's usually what they wear. My wife bought them each robes if they need to get something in the middle of the night or if they don't feel like getting dressed right away on weekends.

  • You should if you want to.

  • There is nothing wrong with it at all. You want to be comfortable when you sleep. I have slept naked since I was about 15. I just like letting my skin breath after being in cloths all day.

  • Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable I sleep naked my girlfriend wears a bra and a thong because she isn't comfortable with sleeping naked.

It's al personal preference wear a full on ball gowned and high heals if it makes you happy

  • Nothing wrong with that at all. And yes, ask your parents to buy you the sleep clothes you're most comfortable with.

  • I'm sure if you were to ask your parents they would be more than agreeable... Good Luck. 🤞

  • Nothing wrong with that, feel free to ask your parents.

  • The problem is when you roll around at night. They hook on and pull you down. If you are going to wear one, pull it up to your waist so your butt is not on it.

  • Sleep in or not in anything you want. Its whatever makes you feel comfortable. Had 2 female roommates that just wore their underwear only. That's what they felt comfortable in. My girlfriend now wears shorts (usually mine) and a t-shirt (usually mine).

  • Sleep in underwear

  • You go girl 💞

  • no ofc not! i do that too tbh

  • Nothing wrong with that, and I don't think your parents would have a problem with that.

  • Maybe you could barrow one of your father’s tee shirts. Just to give it a try.

  • Night shirts are fun night clothes.

  • Listen here and listen good: You sleep in *whatever you want*. You need no permissions. No approval.

If you want to sleep in a night shirt, you sleep in that. Hell, if you want to sleep naked or in a diving suit, you do that.

(No, don't do the diving suit, but you get the point)

  • Yeah they can be comfy. What do u wear at the moment

    • Just some pajama pants and a t-shirt :)

    • Why the change?

    • Just wanting to see if a nightshirt would be much more comfortable while also being a bit cooler.
