Should women be allowed to go topless in public?

They would have the same option to go topless in public as men do, Obviously they would have to be 18 and up. I think it would be able to work in certain settings and areas like beaches, clubs, resorts and spas however openly walking around topless in public might be too much in my opinion.

I said 18 and up and in certain areas because that's most likely the most acceptable way to people in most areas like the US and many other places where women are not allowed to be totally topless, There are some places that allow it and it's perfectly fine. I personally believe everyone should be allowed to go topless whenever they want especially in the summer when it's hot and for tanning and other activities where it's more comfortable.

  • Since men are allowed to run around topless, I cannot see why women are not allowed to.

    • I agree, I go shirtless a lot so I don't think it's a big deal if girls can go shirtless too.

    • I mostly go to those places where topless is allowed

    • You're right, I actually had a female friend that would go topless a lot, She would even change her top right in front of everyone with no bra on and she had big boobs. She even walked in on me in the bathroom while my dick was out and she didn't care she just looked and then started doing her makeup.. like wtf lmao!!

    • Can you be more specific?

    • Well places where rules apply such as no shirt no service. Pools, beaches are fine.

  • At a fundamental moral level divorced from the constraints of society as it is now, I don't find any problem. But there's society as it is now, and it is of the type that people can get outraged over a wardrobe malfunction at a Superbowl and deem content unsuitable for children on the basis of just nudity without an actual sexual context to it.

So there's that problem, and until that problem is addressed (which is quite a big problem that might require that citizens develop a whole new perspective on these things through education, changes to media and its restrictions, etc), I don't think it's anything but a recipe for conflict for women to be walking around topless all over the place.

    >> Obviously they would have to be 18 and up.

It's interesting to me that you made this distinction. It's not obvious to me, since if toplessness can be viewed as appropriate and not too lewd (typically desexualizing it to a great degree), it's not clear to me why there should be an age restriction.

    • When I was a boy in Japan, public toplessness at least for public breastfeeding (and quite the exposed type, not very discreet) was considered totally appropriate. But simultaneously it was considered appropriate to show things like bath soap commercials on children's networks featuring fully exposed nude women. Nudity wasn't considered very sexual without a sexual context to it. Then something changed over the decades growing up, perhaps more Western influence from Hollywood films and the like, nudity became deemed inappropriate for children, public baths went from coed to segregate, and now women tend to cover up the top even when breastfeeding and tend to do it privately. So from my perspective, it's an overarching problem of how society views nudity.

    • I also took visual arts (double major in VA/CS) in uni and that included figure drawing. And I was a bit worried about seeing a very attractive naked woman in front of an entire classroom like maybe I'd get too turned on. But I wasn't almost as a surprise -- I just got drawing shapes and forms I saw and that was that. So I think whether we sexualize nudity or not depends on how we look at a nude person. But a society that programs its citizens to think toplessness is so sexual with topless bars, topless content in advertising and media being deemed inappropriate for younger viewers, etc, conditions a lot of people to be like, "OMG! I saw breasts!" And as long as that conditioning is there, I don't think it's going to work out well for women to be walking around topless -- unless they can do it in such massive numbers that it changes everything around them.

  • Yes we should be allowed to go topless

  • I think so too, in public.

    So D.

  • There probably wouldn't be very many of them doing that anyway, but they should be allowed to go totally nude if they want to.

  • Both men and women should keep their shirts on

    • I go shirtless a lot lol

    • Well it is not right to go half-naked in public

    • Yes it is lol

  • Guys can go topless so why should girls not be able to?

  • Honestly, if a woman wants to go topless, she can do it if that's what she wants, but she shouldn't complain if people look at her, cause let's face it, they WILL look at her.

    • I g wet her a lot! There's no reason to be embarrassed about our bodies. We all have bodies. Back in ancient Greece people would go naked and no one cared. When did our bodies become our shame?

    • My girlfriend never mind if anyone see her, she is exhibitionist.

  • Here where I live in the Province of Ontario, Canada it is perfectly legal for women to go topless basically in any situation where a guy would go topless to be more comfortable. It's a law that women fought for and got in place some twenty or more years ago. From what I've gathered only a handful of women have taken advantage of this law.

  • except "openly walking around topless in public might be (IS) too much in my opinion." That's about right.

  • I assume your point is that there should be equality for men & women and that nudity in itself is not sexual so society ought to divorce the two things and allow people to be topless in public if that is their wish. Not sure why the need for an age caveat? Especially one seemingly still based on gender, or you you banning teen boys from taking their shirts off? At what age does it become illegal for kids to be topless? Or are you banning all public nudity for kids?

  • Yes!

  • I don't think it should be allowed.

  • Its illegal for a guy to waĺk around topless if its not a beach spa swimming pool ext.

  • My girlfriend and her mom being topless pretty much comfortable indoor and outdoor, never shy publicly, normally at home live topless with French underwear or booty shorts or Thong or G-string even any guest come home or deliveryman come. Going out normally outfits are without bra on even see through outfits, but go on duty or office then wear half cup bra. Resorts, beaches and poolside party completely topless or nude depending on the environment. Both of them really attractive and tight fitting body not saggy boobs, did not mind anyone glance or see them. I love them with their hobby fully supportive and encouraging. So don't worry, enjoy the life.

  • Hell yes and why not?

  • Say "yes" you are damned. Say "no" you are damned. Lose-Lose either way.

  • I mean if we live in a none prudent and desensitized society, may be so, but personally I like to be comfortable in my dress, because I don't have the weather to freeze or die of and sometimes in weather, gnats amd insects can be attracted to our sweat bodily chemicals emitted so it would be practical to be covered, I think at least

  • Nope, that’s one inequality I’m ok with

  • I’m already nudist so I say yes

    • So, How often do you go nude?

    • Kelly6 My family too.

  • I think most girls will feel uncomfortable about doing that

    • Agree... because its been that way all the time... even for someone who foesnt reveal much wearing a low neck for the first time is hard... leart it the hard way

    • I understand, i think i know a good amount about girls but haven’t found the correct lady for me in dating
