If you answer we need to eat to live, then I say we need sex to stay alive mentally and emotionally.

Inasmuch as we eat good food and avoid junk to avoid stomach ache, we use proper contraceptive (including very effective ones like IUDs) to avoid pregnancy.

Fair, but even without 100% certainly there are other methods to minimize the risk of pregnancy. And there are plan B and (depending on where you live) plan C options in place if plan A fails. More or less insuring that the only time you have to worry about pregnancy is when you actually intend to get pregnant.
