I think it should be 16 or heck even 14 but until your 20 you can only have sex with people near your age. So no 16 with 60, No 14 with 40. But once your 20 you can go with a 40 or 60 if you want. I think 15 is the perfect minimum age for consent, mainly because by the time a person is 15 it's almost guaranteed that the person is no more prepubescent. Ideally one shouldn't be having sex until they turn 18, but I think there's a difference between being idealistic and only seeing things for how they should be, and being realistic and seeing things for how they truly are

I'm from a European country where the age of consent is 16 and I think that's reasonable. You won't stop teens having sex with each other anyway by having an age of consent, but at least it makes clear that someone of 16 is seen as mature enough to make their own decisions. I was 17 and my ex-girlfriend was 16 when we first has sex, I think it was normal and we both weren't too young for it.

The adolescent brain is not fully developed even into the early 20's. Even if consent is given its usually not under logical thinking. Most will regret their decision if they become pregnant or they are suddenly going to be a father when their not even out of school.
Most people these days are not even ready for the real world even after college. Either you find out later your field sucks, is low paying, or requires several more years of education to pay well, or you can't afford college and you are left with low income jobs.
We should be preparing people for success. If people want to have sex younger thats fine, but at least prevent them from becoming young parents

I think it would have to do with better sex ed (starting 5th or 6th grade) and making teens who want to have sex be able to get better access to birth control pills and condoms. I personally got more education out of child development than sex ed, but that's just me. Also, I think the reason why most adults aren't ready for the real world yet is because we're still "kids" somehow (it's not a bad thing. Parents just need to keep teaching).

Well considering that some places in the world even as young as 13 or 14 can marry and is also at the age of consent and in other places in the world at 14 is allowed to drink alcohol and can marry and has the ability to consent and be considered an adult at that age it is a kind of tough to find the right age to consent as every country is different. But keep in mind that people in the 20s to 30 or even 40s married at least at 14 or 15 years old during this time so I can't really say for sure but I will leave this to an open discussion.
