It’s a developing country. They completely understand things like personal freedom yet. They even have arranged marriages still. Now some parts of India are more developed, so it’s not every Indian doing these things. Just the very uneducated.

Because Indian dudes are more in number. US population is 331 million whereas Indian population is 1.38 billion. That 0.38 means 380 million. Even a tiny fraction of Indians is just too much. But on the other hand, USA has a rape rate of 27.3(per 100k) whereas India only has 1.8(per 100k). I think you should be more concerned about that.

@0112358 I do. If you're arguing that not all Indian women are reporting rape then that's the same case with America. Not all American women report rape, not all Canadian women report rape, or any other country for that matter. Still the number of reported rape cases in America is 27.3(per 100k), that too after a lot of women don't report being raped.
@Twenty2 If not all American women report rate, but still 27.3 do out of 100k, then it's safe to assume that there are even less reported cases of women being raped in India. Meaning the number of women being raped in India, are actually higher than what you are led to believe.

@kas19 I know that. The number is higher than the actual number because a lot of crimes are not reported but the argument I am making is that India isn't the only country with unreported crimes. If India has a higher real number with unreported crimes then USA will have even higher real number with unreported crimes.
Of course the us has unreported. Everywhere does. But assuming that the ratio of reported to unreported is the same everywhere is a terrible assumption when societal reactions and police response differ widely. Sweden has a reported rate double the US yet almost certainly is safer.

You can cross reference data between surveys of victimization and surveys of potential perpetrators. Surprisingly, when you ask men in surveys if they've had sex without consent, those who have appear to be pretty honest about it.

@Twenty2 Facts change when there isn't enough data to begin with. That's why new data is vital in research. If men were able to be comfortable enough to tell people they were forced into sex without consent, it would change the way we view about women being the only victims of sexual abuse, which isn't true.
There is a big "if" in your comment and when that "if" will come to light then we'll discuss the new stats. On a personal note, I don't think anyone thinks that "women are the only victims of sexual abuse" unless they are 3rd wave feminits/woke people. Everyone I know agrees to the fact that world is big and possibility is endless so there might be a fraction of men who are sexual abused too. And there are some cases like that too so that assumption is backed by facts.

There IS a fraction of men that are, and it will only get worse if the stereotypes towards how men experience abuse continue. Yes, you're correct. But in reference to what @0112358 said, you can cross reference data to come to a conclusion. The conclusion can't obviously be statistically accurate though. You can't assume everything without getting the actual numbers. Which is hard when you probably have many unreported cases of abuse.
Who's saying that numbers are accurate? No one. I am only saying that numbers are inaccurate everywhere. Tho @0112358 on the other hand forgot to mention that US numbers are inaccurate too. He believes the US's reported number which I feel is dumb because that isn't the case. If you read his comment, he literally only mentioned India's reported rate being inaccurate while being silent about USA. I hate this dumbness. If he was saying that numbers are not accurate then I would have sided with him but that wasn't his intention. His intention was to say that India's reported rape rate is not correct whereas USA's reported rape rate is.
@Twenty2 I believe certain people reported it, but many don't. Most don't, actually. We know we have a certain amount of unreported cases here, and we know we have a certain amount of unreported cases.

If he would have said that "stats aren't right" I would have supported it. But he pointed out Indian stats and said that no one believes them. That is wrong. No one believes any stats.

The USA numbers are way off, but beyond that, there's reason to think that everyone is not off by the same amount. THere can be an inverse ratio where the more effectively rape is prosecuted, the more women report and the higher the reported conviction rate for rape. That's why sweden is double the U. S. while being a safer country. Obviously the media focuses on what's sensational, which is why in the US they are constantly talking about rape on campus, yet victimization data shows college students are quite a bit safer then non-students in the same age range.

I am taking a guess here. As far as I am concerned females are seen less valuable compared to males in India. As a result a lot of females are getting aborted. That leed to having a lot more males than females inside the country. The last time I looked it up there where around 60 million more males in India.
