Why are school janitors allowed in girls toilets (this is in UK)?

We have a really pervy janitor at my school who hangs out in the girls toilets, listening to us piss and stuff. it's so uncomfortable, people have made reports against him but no one every listens to us. for guys that dont know, girls sometimes make a like hissing noise when we pee, and ma mate came out a cubicle (stall) to find the janitor standing there and he said "nice hiss" to her. so so so bad, im not even exaggerating. how is this allowed? me and my friends even go to a field spot somewhere near back of school where no one goes at break sometimes just to pee cos we can't face it.

This is really messed up. I assumed you were some adult busy-body-Karen asking a hypothetical question just to stir-shit up.

But... the fact that you're a 15 year old girl who is actually in this situation... is TOTALLY different.

What you're describing here is wrong. Objectively wrong. Anyone ANYONE can see that this is wrong.

When I was going to tell the adult-Karen I THOUGHT you were that she was full-of-shit was: "I'm not from the UK, but I'm sure that janitors aren't allowed to be in the girls toilets while any girls are in there."

And, to be honest, if that's NOT the official rule... that's shocking to me. Like genuinely shocking. It's so basic. So obvious. And in todays world (where everyone is hyper-aware of sexual predators and protecting kids from perverts etc.) it seems unbelievable to me that there isn't some official "policy" or "rule" about this. It's so basic. Even for the sake of "not being held legally liable"... I would expect that all schools would have adopted this policy.

That doesn't much matter, when the fact is, you've got a creepy-janitor listening to you pee. Obviously the policy isn't there, or isn't being followed.

This is actually really serious. You've got a very legitimate complaint/concern here.

I can't believe that complaints have been made, but not taken seriously. That's jaw-dropping. This isn't something complicated or controversial. It's obvious, and simple, and I don't understand how any adult could fail to see the problem here.

This is not just advice. It's more than that. This is really what you NEED to do. Because you're right.

I don't care HOW loudly you need to complain. I don't care how many different people you need to complain to. YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU"RE HEARD.

You are 100% right. If the first person (or institution like "school") that you complained to didn't do anything... that was 100% wrong. Complain elsewhere. Tell you parents about it. Tell specific teachers about it.

WRITE YOUR COMPLAINT DOWN (or e-mail it). That way there' s a record of the complaint. Which makes it harder for someone to ignore... because there's no excuse for any adult to NOT do something about this. So even for the sake of not being held responsible for failing to do something about it... it'll prompt people to act.

Start a petition. Organize a motherfucking school-wide-walk-out.

Seriously. I don't care what you have to do to be heard. You have ever right to feel free of some grown-man's presence while peeing at school. Everyone will be able to see that you're right. It's crazy to me that ANYONE fielded a complaint about this but didn't stop it. That's wrong. Totally wrong.

When you know you're right, and you're fighting for something you have every right to... there is "no such thing" as not being heard. You need to just be louder and louder about it until you ARE heard. Because you're 100% right, and it's ok to force others to see that... in a situation like this.

Seriously. This is wrong. And I hope you're able to get that changed, at least at your school very soon. In fact, scratch out "hope". DO get that changed. DO. 🙂

First, I don't make any kind of hissing noise when I pee. Second, we had coed restrooms at college where there were girls and guys but there were stalls so they could hear but not see. If he (the janitor) is asking to watch or purposely listening to girls that is wrong and it should be dealt with. Does he do this to boys too?

For those who don't know this is a famous user here in GaG that goes around posts about pee telling he's a janitor in a school that sees girls pee all the time "because of his job" and asking if you wanna see.

He got so well known that now is changing the approach.

Really they shouldn't be allowed in there except when they're cleaning. That's how it was in all my schools, the janitors could use the bathroom corresponding to their gender, but when they were cleaning, the bathroom was closed.
