Humans are one of the only two species that look each other in the eye when they have sex. It's us and Bonobos.

It is an extremely emphatic trait. For instance, we aren't seeing your face, we are seeing what you are feeling, and THAT is what makes it so sexy. What we also share with bonobos are sex acts that we ourselves don't feel, like blowjobs or hand jobs.

To give you an idea of what this means, consider that in about 60 years of observing bonobos, we have not witnessed a single rape, murder, or infanticide. I'm agnostic and do not take the book of Genesis literally in much of any way. But I do like this philosophy, and believe the stories were inspired by real-world cultural shifts that happened during the period. Especially what you said about captivity. That's spot-on. Chimpanzees are much more aggressive and hierarchical in captivity. With wild wolves, there is no "alpha male" in the traditional sense, it is simply the parents, and the cubs are the pack. A lot of human evils originate from the restrictions and complications of modern civilization. As Chris Ryan puts it, "Civilized to death." As for the overall picture of what is going on, I think that humans are still in an awkward transition stage between our pre-agricultural selves and our post-agricultural selves, something you can clearly see in the cultural transitions that have occurred over the past 10,000 years or so.
