Why do guys think they have a say on abortion?

Our bodies, our choices. Thats that.

For those saying abortion is murder, we live in a society where we aren't charged with murder if we get one. Thinking it is murder is your views and not a fact or law. Also thats not what this is even about. Never debated abortion itself, rather than that of men having a say. The main reason I asked this is because of laws that were made in 2019 on abortion, all the lawmakers where white men.

  • Not my personal views, but here's an argument I think is reasonable.

Obviously it's not a 50/50, since you'd have to carry the kid for 9 months, he should still have his words heard and considered. It's literally 50% his DNA, so that's the least you could do. Guys have emotions and get attached too.

Anyway, being reasonable goes a long way. No one likes radicalism, no matter what side it is on.

    • The funny thing is, that they use the argument that it's their body since they carry the child 9 months, but it pales in comparison to the 18-20+ years WE MEN are expected to support the child. Quite hypocritical not to allow the man to have a say in it, but expect him to spend his resources on a decision he had no say in. Count me out.

    • Yup, I just recommend staying away from anyone that this one dimensional. It's a massive red flag and basically tells you exactly how they will be as a parent. Single.

    • BOOM nailed it!

  • our sperm that created that baby so actually not your choice is it?

  • If you believe that the father of a child has no say in its murder, then why should the father be required to support a regular baby? It was the female's choice to have the baby, either through incompetence or choice, regardless of the guy's opinion, so why saddle him with any responsibility unless he wanted her to have his child?

  • it should be at least 60/40 since it is also the man’s child.

  • Because you and married to him.

  • Ending a potential life should at least be worthy of a conversation from both ends.

  • She can do whatever she wants, and I can leave her.

    • Why does it matter that the men were white?

  • Takes two to make a baby you sure as hell don't do it by yourself.

Also when a child is growing inside of you it's not just "your" body anymore that child is inhabiting it and the baby itself is not a part of your body it’s another human life. Not to mention the man's DNA.

A woman can get a abortion if she wants to but she'll do it alone and without me because I won't be with someone who would so carless throw away a babies life, my babies life.

Try thinking about it if the roles were reversed if you got someone pregnant and had absolutely zero say in what happened. How would that make you feel?

  • Because the male has a 50 per cent interest in the baby.

  • Who are you to be the arbiter of who can and cannot have opinions about things? You are complaining that a man cannot have an opinion based on their immutable characteristics? That is literal, actual, text book definition of sexist.
Men don't have to check themselves here, you do. Who the hell do you think you are?

  • cause who pays the child support 😂

i doubt the kid is what these guys care about lol

  • The baby becomes our expense though. So even though the ultimate choice should stay with the woman; if the guy doesn't have the ability to provide resources to help raise the child, that fact should be considered in whether or not the abortion happens.

  • because half the unbirn child's DNA is ours too.

    • *unborn yes you get more say but we, as the father have some input too

  • That's a good question

  • Why the heck not - both should have a say for the murder of an innocent!

  • cause it's not your body you're killing, so the "my body" argument is bullshit. you're killing the son/daughter of the man, so it is not your right to exclude him from that decision.

because men don't get the right to abendon you, if you choose to keep the child. they have to pay alimony anyway. so you don't get to decide alone. easy as that.

  • The baby is not part of the woman’s body. It’s another human life. It’s not a blob of cells; it’s another human life. Man should not have a say because they’re not carrying the baby.

  • Because if I don't want the kid, I'm going to fight to not trapped into paying child support just because I wanted to have some fun. Suck on it.

  • Don't want to deal with partner then don't get involved it's that simple if your mom thought the same way you wouldn't be here OK so consider that you are born then your mom decides to snap you out of existance bc she couldn't abort you as it was too late to abort then would you agree she made you so she can kill you you came from her body her choice?
It could be only justified if your life was in danger and there was no other option due to complications

Why not tie your tubes then that would be your body your choice and the man has right tk know this early on so you can mutually agree bc it takes two to tango.

When people as couples could get pregnent then both have a say in it or it should be discussed earlier on

  • Well, they can have an opinion like anyone else. If they are in a relationship with a woman there should be a discussion about whether or not children are desirable. Men should simply not have sex with women if they're afraid that she might kill their child.

Also, that something is a law doesn't make it right. Slave owners could kill their property without legal repercussion, and legal abortion is the same. It is the greatest genocide in history, and should be treated as such.
