We live in a culture where sex determines a person's social skills and desirability. Also, sex is highly glorified in our society due to the pleasure it brings. As a result, many people view it as an activity that everyone must try. Unfortunately, our society also tends to ridicule those with poor social skills and undesirable characteristics. As a result, when a person admits that they've never had sex, others are likely to interpret it as not having the social skills required to find a partner or sex, or being too unattractive to be considered sexually desired. This becomes more pronounced the older the person is. With teenagers around your age, it is often considered normal to be a virgin because a lot of teenagers are unable to easily have sex due to lack of privacy and other things such as strict parents. However, as a person becomes an adult and especially old enough to work a good paying job and live on their own, people are more likely to believe that something is wrong if they haven't had sex yet. They are often insecure about something and/or socially awkward. Believe it or not, I sometimes still meet men around my age that are still virgins and, more often than not, they usually lack confidence. His ability to have sex often determines a man's social status and masculinity. If his peers perceive him to lack this, such as by not being able to get sex, he gets made fun of for it. Many people still look down on men that lack confidence. For women, it is likely to be different. I noticed that society tends to praise women that remain virgins, especially as they get older, which is like the exact opposite for men. A woman's "innocence" (a term I disagree with because sex isn't bad) is valued and the longer she stays "pure," the more desirable she is to men.

It isn't about the virginity. It is about the top dog mentality. It is the primal Alpha-beta mentality. For men the top Alpha can have all the females and the betas will be luck if he let's them have any females at all. Females give the Alpha male power over betas too because they do not want anyone who is not at the top of the pyramid of power. For females too this idea works because they can scare other women away giving them a higher chance for the Alpha or to monopolize him. So they tease virgins telling virgins they are undesirable, and nobody wants them if they can't prove otherwise by getting laid, because then they dominate potential competition into subservience. It is all a big power and control game.

Well i guess it feels like everyone else is going places meanwhile you just sat there like great. Pretty much everyone i know has had sex and now has a girlfriend or boyfriend they have it regular with. While i sit here like yup not good enough to go anywhere with my life. And then even if they ain't with someone at least they've experienced it. So just a lot of self doubt which then ironically puts people off even more so endless cycle really. So sometimes i just wake up and think why i am shit. But that's probably depression not helping too.
