Some people use Jude 1:7 (which says that the Sodomites "went after strange flesh") as evidence, but that verse actually contradicts that point. The Sodomites went after foreigners. This is consistent with Genesis 18:20 that says that there was a great outcry against Sodom. Were people crying out because the Sodomites are having consensual gay sex? No. Genesis 19 provides an illustration of the way that the Sodomites abused foreigners.
Two angels arrived at Lot's house, under the disguise of men. All the people in Sodom gathered outside the house, demanding for the angels to be let outside, so that the Sodomites could gang-rape them. Yes, the angels presented as male, but Lot was also male. Why did the Sodomites try to rape the angels, but not Lot? Because the angels were foreigners.
Ezekiel 16:49-50 says "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good."
No reference to homosexuality. Some people say that "abomination" refers to homosexuality, but to me, it clearly refers to how they would commit GANG-RAPE, as illustrated in Genesis 19. I'm not denying that the Bible says male homosexual intercourse is a sin, but if you genuinely believe consensual homosexuality is a greater abomination than GANG-RAPE (whether homosexual or heterosexual), then I'm not sure you're worth arguing with.

Well I’m Greek and can read the original language the Bible was written in as well as many of it’s first translations and let me tell you, the word was used in the context meaning “not human.” The Sodomites we’re having sex with animals and “supernatural beings” in which led to mutated offspring which is actually what inspired the narrator character from the movie 300.. Also, Greeks were super gay back in the day and God didn’t wipe us out..

it’s relevant because as I’m sure you’re aware Jesus himself never directly speaks about homosexuality though does once refer to the sin of sodom. Which - I concur - shows Jesus was definitely against roaming bisexual rape gangs. I am too.
Honestly, many of them might have not even been gay or bi. It's like prison rape. The rapists aren't necessarily actually gay/bi; they just want to humiliate and express their dominance over the victim.
If someone puts their dick in another man they are gay or bi that is obvious.

Mentally ill people who rape in a lot of cases do it to have power over someone and it is not about the sex but they do it to the sex they are attracted to. People in prison do it to the same sex because the same sex are the only ones they can do it too.

I dont believe that the city was destroyed because of homosexuality.
I believe that the city was destroyed because it lacked hospitality to foreigners or people who were different. They had become a cruel city that was obsessed with materialism rather than being decent, kind, and generous to all people.

It was destroyed due to debauchery of all kinds, the two cities Sodom and Gomorra were as low as low goes according to the Bible. They were made an example of God's hatred for sin and rebellion towards his order and design, which very well could have included homosexuality seeing as as you say, the Bible in many other passages is clear on it being a sin, and concerning Sodom and Gomorra, sexual immorality was part of their depravity as stated. So while not explicitly stated, it could've been a factor, though I don't consider it to be very important. The important thing is that both cities suffered God's wrath, even though as we know it was said to Abraham, if but one righteous person was found within the city walls it would be spared.
As for the ranking of sin, I do not believe it's for us to do that. God judges sin equally and nothing that is impure can be in his presence, because God is only light and goodness. We can identify sin and judge it as such, but as far as diminishing the sinful nature of something like homosexuality by referring to something by human standards considered worse is a faulty theological argument.

There are a number of clay tablets that have star maps which were made at the time Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. The tablets describe an asteroid flying over the cities, which scientists believe superheated the air and burnt the cities down.
If that really happened, I could easily see why ancient people would believe that god was teaching them a lesson.
Many places have been destroyed by natural disasters. It means nothing. You can make any disaster into a god punishment case. As in every town you will find bad people. Hell most people aren't nice.

The fall of Sodom and Gomorrah.
This is a cautionary warning of the destructive consequences of sin. Sodom and Gomorrah were cities mentioned in Genesis, notorious for their flagrant sin. Genesis 18:20-21 states, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.”
After leaving Abraham, God’s angels arrived at the gates of Sodom and Gomorrah where they were greeted by the gatekeeper Lot. He pleaded with the angels to join him in his house so he could wash their feet and serve them a meal. The angels agreed and went to the house of Lot. Lot was a foreigner to the realm of Sodom and not succumbed to the lustful, degenerate sins rampant in the city.

Their proclivity to gang-rape foreigners was demonstrated when (what seemed to be) 2 foreigners visited Lot, & their first reaction was to try to gang-rape them.

@AllieOops Gays have sex, yes, but I still don't see why neighboring nations would cry and sob to God about that. First off, it is in ANOTHER CITY & it's not like there was any media back then. They would have no way to even know that those people were having consensual gay sex, and even if they did, why would they care? It is not harming them. Those were days when people toiled 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, just to survive. They had WAY worse stuff to worry about. And you think they care that much about some guys in another city having consensual gay sex? What makes much more sense is that people were crying out to God because the people in Sodom were raping and abusing foreigners. And just because the men in Sodom are rapists doesn't mean that's true for all gay people. Most gay people don't rape, & there are straight people who commit rape, too.
Why are you on this rape kick? No one said all gays do this. You are the one saying the gays in Sodom did it. So, ok, maybe they wanted to but God put them in their place by blinding them and gave Lot and his family time to escape before He rained down fire and brimstone. You know that Lot was the only righteous man in Sodom. That is why he and his family were saved while all others bore God's judgement. And even then Lot's wife looked back because she apparently missed the life there and was turned into a pillar of salt.

You are giving your opinion. The Bible does not make clear in Genesis that the men were rapists. But they were not in prison so they would not act that way to strangers whereas gay men might and did.

Well, I believe the bible states that it is because of all the sin in the city, but that's fiction. Scientist claim that it was destroyed because of a meteor that exploded over Sodom and Gomorrah.

You can laser pick at the exact reasons, but the basic idea is that the whole city turned away from the spiritual and the "word of God" and "went to the dark side". Hence, the challenge to find one righteous man in the city, and that whole story.
I thought it was related to homosexuality. After listening to some theologist, and analyzing the Bible better, I came to the conclusion that the destruction of Sodom was due to its totally dysfunctional population.

First of need to prove sodom existed, because if something never existed than it can't be destroyed. And the only references to this place is a book that many proven inaccuracies.
