The smell is either a reaction from the condom or his sperm and the color is from blood.
Blood during sex is due to penetrating without sufficent foreplay, not enough lubrication (darn you birth control), being too rough, or him hitting your cervix.

Sex does not pay now does it? You better go to your Doc First thing in the morning to run test and get yourself an Aids test as well to be on the safe side. How well do you know this guy anyway?
