Okay so for my friends birthday I was thinking of giving him a blow job. I'm in grade 8 and one of my girl friends thinks it's a huge deal and that I shouldn't do it! Is it really that big of a deal?

I agree with the general consensus that it's not a good idea. Sex, even oral, is a major event in your life and I always say don't live too fast. It's not good to rush into these things like that and there will be plenty of time for this stuff later in life. While I think it's good that you want to do something considerate for a friend, I think you should do something else.

While it's nice on paper there are other issues surrounding it. First of all, regardless of whether it's moral or not, it's not socially accepted behavior. Things like this have a tendency of getting out and you will probably be stigmatized for it. Also 8th grade guys are little more than boys and are not mature enough to handle something so sexual. I don't see it turning out well.

What I don't agree with is the severity of the responses. Just because something is not socially acceptable doesn't mean you have to freak out about it. It's grade 8 and by now she's only 4 months away from high-school. If she would have said grade 9 would anybody have been this outraged?

Children can be sexual even before puberty but every's so afraid of being thought a pedophile that they react with disgust. Sure it's not right but it's not disgusting either. Every one is horny and curious in grade 8. I know I was. It's natural to have desire. Is too much to be mature about this and give a sensible, rational answer? While I agree 100% that 8th graders should be discouraged from sex, they shouldn't be scorned for it. Throwing words like "slut" around when an 8th grader just THINKS about giving a BJ does damage too and it's both childish and irresponsible.

Can we just act like adults here and say "no this is not a good idea"?

And to think I had to wait till sophmore year to get my first BJ. And yes he will tell everyone. You'll probably get more attention from guys cause they'll want some too. Girls will call you a ho since they'll be jealous. Its serious because it affects not only your reputation but you can also catch something. What's the problem with waiting and instead offering something else to him? You may really like him now but at some point do you want to be saying "I can't believe I sucked his d***"..? Trust me...it will happen. A more suitable alternative might be for you to let him eat you out as a gift...If he doesn't want to do it it should give you an indication on whether he deserves that BJ or not.

i don't mean to sound rude but if you are in grade eight you have no idea how lucky you are. your still a kid for gods sake! go play on the swings or in the sandbox! you have the rest of your life to have sex, don't rush in to it as a gift to him, its something you will regret many times over and it will just end up giving you a bad rep. plus I was pretty bad at my first bj and I wouldn't want the guy talking to all his friends about it.

if your doing these things before you hit high school, who knows what you'll do there. Girls will label you instantly, as will guys. You'll be called when the guy needs pleasing. You'll be the one with no emotions, just a mouth.
