It's a fact: people in America, and not just men, idolize big breasts. Every year, American women spend millions of dollars on breast implants, cosmetic procedures to improve their breasts, breast enlargement pills, pumps and creams.
Considering the role that big breasts play in our culture and society, the amount time, energy, money and emotion that goes into breast enlargement seems justified.
But why do men like big breasts? You may be surprised to learn that not all men like big breasts (and we're not talking about gay men) - that the male fascination with massive mammaries is relatively recent, and is a localized phenomenon.
Not all men like big breasts
"Beauty" and standards of what is attractive and what isn't is defined by culture. American culture and society currently idolize big breasts on tall, slender figures (a combination almost never found in nature).
Did you know that in Brazil, breasts take a backseat to a woman's butt? In this South American culture, pert and round buttocks are far more attractive to men than breasts.
But during the 16th century, big breasts were considered low-class. The kinds of knockers men drool over today would only be found on a wet-nurse back then. The standard belle in the 1700s would be considered overweight today - but back then, carrying a few extra pounds was a sign of wealth (that you got enough to eat). And these neoclassical beauties had relatively small breasts - a modest B cup at most.
Have you ever seen ancient Greek or Roman sculptures at the museum? You may recall that even the goddess of love, Aphrodite/Venus, wasn't burdened with cleavage. These ancient beauties were instead well-proportioned with breasts that fit their frames.
And it's not just breast size standards that change over time. Remember Michaelangelo's famous sculpture David? The reason the statue doesn't have a larger penis is because, in Renaissance Italy, having a big penis was a cause for embarrassment. In that time and place, being over-generously hung was about as attractive as wearing a red clown nose.
Is it all just marketing?
The theory is that American male fascination with big breasts is driven by the advertising and media machine. Their explanation goes like this: children are exposed to seductive, sensual sexy advertising featuring busty female models. Children are taught to associate these images with arousal.
Fast forward: children are now adults. Marketers use the same types of images to attract their attention - and it works. So TV commercials, billboards and magazine ads perpetuate this big-breasted, sexy iconography. And children see it, too. Thus the cycle perpetuates itself.
Whether or not one agrees with any of these explanations of why men like big breasts, it's important to realize that the male fascination is real. People perceived as beautiful, on average, are promoted faster at work, where they make more money. They get better service. And they marry more attractive partners.0 0 0 0Big boobs are NOT hotter. That's like saying why are big butts hotter. All the guys I've been with love my breasts (34B). Big boobs however, do make an impression, but it's mostly psychological. Just like a huge penis, it makes an impression (when naked), but doesn't mean it's hotter. All breasts have their beauty. Guys love perky and symmetrical t*ts, just know that.
I do understand that breasts are commercialized and put on display everyday and everywhere we turn, but so are big lips, tiny noses, big eyes, long hair, big ass, long legs, high cheekbones, tiny waist and big hips. You can't grow or correct any of these features unless you do so unnaturally (like breast implants), and some you can't even "correct" at all. You will see gorgeous women everywhere with a few to none of these "requirements". Big breasts in general are linked to sex (aka good time) in today's media. That's why women with larger breasts are viewed as sex symbols, because every time a guy stares at their chest, they can't help but think of sex. Same thing with big asses, but generally the front part of thebody is what people tend to look at first.
Megan Fox is a sex symbol, so is Jessica Alba, Kylie Minogue, Eva Mendes, and Britney Spears (for a while), none of them have huge or even just big t*ts. It's not about what's on your chest, it's all about the energy you exude. You mentioned that Katy Perry is a sex symbol, to me she's more like a classic beauty like Audrey Hepburn, except with big t*ts, but she doesn't exude more sex than say, Olivia Wilde (who by the way, doesn't have big t*ts).
This is a huge misconception and it's sad to see so many people misled on what true sex appeal is all about.0 0 0 0I would rather be beautiful and elegant, any day over hot and sexy.
I have 34F-sized breast's it does not make me any more sexy than any other girl. Also from my point of view it has never been a positive thing, I've been bullied because of them, I have had trouble finding clothes that fit my body properly, had boys talk to my chest rather than my face (trust me this does happen in real life not just movies) and the guy that dates you not because he loves you but because he wants a girl with big breast's so he looks cool in front of his mates.
I've learned to live with what I have and I know I should be happy I have a bust so don't start having go at me saying I’m gloating because I’m not. All I’m saying is everyone’s different and the grass always looks better on the other side until you get there and see there are downs to every side.
Look at Audrey Hepburn she is classed as one of the most beautiful people who's ever lived, I do anything to look like her and she didn't have a huge bust.
Why would you want a man who's with you for your breast size, you want a man that loves you for you and your brains and beauty.
Trust me love your body for what it is and don't change it for any man and don't listen to papers they slag off everyone, they are never happy!
Love who you are, not what people want you to be :) xx0 0 0 0

Well, there's a lot of stuff in this one question, I'll try to do what I can.
First, why are big boobs considered attractive? The automatic answer seems to be that it's a sign of fertility. As most girls hit puberty, their boobs start growing, so boobs are associated with fertility and sexuality. Yes, some girls get basically no boobage, and some girls get more boobage than they can handle, but the fact of the matter is boobs are correlated with physical maturity.
Being a nice, fun, and smart girl sounds like a pretty good combination to me. I'd much rather date that combination with a decently attractive girl than some knockout girl that's a bitch and a moron. Not everyone fits the media's standard of hot- that's just how the world works.
Of course you can be hot with small boobs, just not a playboy model. There are actually guys who like flatter chests. Your actions determine "hot" just as much as your body does. If you had a stunning body but dressed/acted like a nun, you wouldn't be hot. If you chose to dress provocatively and act sexual, then you would be seen as a sex symbol even without big boobs.
It's not the same as penis size, true. Penis size isn't prominently on display, but it's more important, so it has its own place. Height, however, IS the same. It's directly related to hotness, you can't change it, and some people are pickier about it than others. Yeah, I'll always have girls shorter than I am, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're okay with just 5'9. Likewise, there will always be girls who have smaller boobs than you, and there will always be guys who are perfectly happy to have a flat-chested girl. Same with other features like broad shoulders, chiseled jawlines, and general body shape (skeletal, not muscular). Bald guys can be hot, but still not as much as those with a full head of hair. Muscles can be enhanced with effort, same as being slim (which is another factor that affects hotness).
The media doesn't reflect absolute male opinion. The media, lingerie ads, and "fashion" don't serve to accurately reflect opinions, just to exploit your insecurity and sell you products. The exception would be stuff specifically aimed at men, like Playboy, Maxim, Girls Gone Wild, and that sort of thing. While I haven't seen any Playboy models that are small chested, there are plenty of girls in Maxim and GGW that aren't well-endowed, so bust size obviously isn't the be all and end all of hotness. There's a LOT more than just boob size that affects hotness.
Yeah, a lot of guys like big boobs. If you're looking to be the next Playboy model, you'll probably have to get implants for it. However, hotness (and ESPECIALLY attraction in general) is determined by a LOT more than boob size. Nobody is perfect, and there is no specific model of what "perfect" is. That's just something you're going to have to accept.1 2 0 0It just seems like guys tend to salivate a lot over big boobs you know. Much more than over small. And I wanna be hot, I wanna be the whole package, since I already have the personality, it'd be great to be considered a knockout and not just decently attractive. But it seems boobs are part of being a 10. At least that's what I've got from guy speak I've overheard or actually participated in. My friends aren't PC about it, even if I'm around.
True, the majority of guys would want you to have more boobage to be a 10 in their book. However, there's just some things you can change, and some you can't. I'd personally love to be 6'0-6'2, but I just work with what I've got. That's about all you can do.
Why are big boobs hotter, you ask? Because many people believe that that is the woman ideal that they are meant to look for. They learn this from the people around them, and the media. Because just like you, many guys watch TV when they are young, and the parents say "wow, that's such a hot woman" and that's what they'll consider "hot". It's all learned, and many people seem to learn the same thing from their parents and their surroundings.
Ignore all posts that say "it's biology" and "the cavemen did the same thing" and "it's the sign of fertiility" and all this stupid stuff. Do YOU look at guys saying "wow, that guy is so hot, if we had children together, then they'll be just as healthy"? I doubt that THAT is your primary concern.
Stop comparing yourself to the "media ideals". Just because they say they are hot, it doesn't necessarily mean they are. Each people learn their own attractive base "a woman must be pretty, must have big boobs, must be this and this and shy and whatever" and you link these to your own perception (you might find some women "pretty" while others don't, and you check for this trait in places where you think you are meant to find it) and you get a response if the girl is attractive or unattractive.
To sum it up: People care about big breasts because they believe this cavemen bs. I don't believe it, I hadn't heard of it until now, and as long as even the A-cup girl has a minimal curve, I still consider that feminine and attractive. And I personally don't even like bigger breasts, because it's a fun thought that "her breasts are bigger than her head" or "her breasts in her clothing is a better sight than her face", hahah xD
In terms of physical attraction, the only things that affect me are height, face, hairstyle - straight hair - (and also voice). Sidenote, makeup is usually a turn-off.
(p.s.: guys aren't insecure about their penis length until they learn that they are supposed to have 8 inches while the average people have like 6 inches. then they believe it's a big deal, while it's not. penis size is also a big deal merely because everyone is talking about it.)2 2 0 1Thank you!

46 117Guys don't choose girls based JUST on how they look. Being "hot" will get you noticed but it won't land you the guy of your dreams.
Stop being so superficial. Stop being like the media.
Reality is that men choose to be with women based on how they make him FEEL. If you're sexy and smart then you're in. And being sexy isn't about how you look, it's about how you move, how you talk, and how you FEEL.
Choose to feel sexy and everyone around you will automatically feel it too. Notice how quiet girls suddenly get more attention when they've had a few drinks? It's because they're suddenly more social and they FEEL more confident.
It's this inner FEELING you have about yourself that will dictate how others will FEEL when around you. Choose to feel sexy and the boys will too.
I speak from many years of dating many women. The "hot and sexy" ones are the women with the most inner confidence and self assurance. The pretty ones with big t*ts get old real fast when they're insecure and needy.

My blog ( link )6 0 0 0But being hot doesn't mean I won't get the guy of my dreams either. And if I get the guy of my dreams, then I want him to have the BEST, which means, the whole package: fun, confident, good in bed, smart, sweet and HOOOOOOOOOOT. That's the thing. It's part of the package. I already had a guy settle for my body, and it SUCKED!!!!
What do you mean you "had a guy settle for your body"? And "HOT" is a judgment of attraction, and our human attraction for someone else is based more on who that person is BEING then how they look or what they say. Ask any woman who falls in love with any man.. she'll call him HOT no matter how he looks. P.S. The man of your dreams isn't as superficial as you're making him sound.. he' the guy who doesn't care about your looks, he cares about YOU.
My ex, he complained that my boobs were small in a couple occasions, when I asked him if he preferred big boobs he said yes, etc. Which means I wasn't his ideal type physically, and that sucks. Sure the perfect guy might not be superficial, but he'll be a guy, ridden with testosterone. He'd be WAY happier to have a HOT girlfriend who was ideal physically, than just an average Plain Jane. And my ex told me all guys prefer big boobs over small.
Its the same as asking, "why 97% of the white people just can't love black people" (I mean as a strong relationship followed with marriage. Its just who we are.
There are many Black & White marriages, and many people who don't really care about breast size.
The majority does - live with it.0 1 1 0Hey black guys are f***ing hottt I am obsessed with them and I'm white
You are just an example of what I said "There are many Black & White marriages".
I think it is just the media and yea. have you heard guys say that 'no more than a handful is a waste?' stick to that :) The media chooses big boobs because they are good for p*rn and 'out there' for guys to see. I think what makes a person hot isn't the size of their boobs but their personality. I mean I've seen more overweight people with big boobs than really slim girls with big boobs. So I don't know if you could say the larger girl with the large breasts is hot. Anyway it's the person not the boobs!
0 1 0 0Big boobs are considered hot typically among males because on a subconscious level they show a representation of a womens fertility. Naturally bigger breasted woman are typically more fertile than those not. And it seems like you have a misconception about growing boobs. (not to be mean) But you can grow boobs and they typically keep growing throught your life time, just more and less for some people. Drinking beer or anything that has hopps in it causes women to grow bigger breasts, no matter the age. Hopps contain a chemical calledc phyto estrogen which mimics real estrogen and causes the body to kick in boob production so to speak. Unlike men's penises though, there literally is a pill that can make your breasts bigger and its basically just a lot of compact phyto estrogen. I believe I answered all of your questions but if not let me know if you care to.
0 1 2 0Those pills almost never work, they just make you retain water and can be harmful, since phyto estrogens (despite coming from plants and being natural) are still hormones which can mess up with a woman's system. Plus, if the pills really did work, don't you think boob jobs would be eliminated? Those pills are way cheaper, they're just too good to be true. And like I told azzhole, those "it's fertility" things, please, stop using that excuse and just say it like it is. I don't think...
I mean when guys want to get laid or are checking out women and commenting with their buddies, I doubt they go like "Look at that rack, bet she's really fertile and young and can raise healthy children". So just say it like it is, even if it's crude. Like there's more to grab, you can tit f***, whatever. But don't mix it with "science" or whatever. I have large hips, which are an indicator of fertility too, yet I get less attention than busty chicks.
Like I already once said, its on a subconscious level, I'd be worried if some guy said she looks fertile to me . . And as far as pills go if you don't want to take their labelled risks then just drink beer if that's your thing, its the exact same affect just a lot less of it but yet a lot safer too. Boob jobs have yet to be eliminated cause unlike with pills they're not permanent and you get them immediatly, there's no waiting period.
Just because bigger breasts get you more attention, it doesn't mean it is the attention you are looking for. Great, so bigger breasts will get you called "hot" and have a lot of guys staring at you, but that does not translate into getting a boyfriend. I have guys staring at my chest regularly but they are not asking me out for dates. Luckily I like how I look and am happy with my figure for myself, but it is definitely not getting me the guy and, if anything, getting me unwanted attention from idiots that just want to see if they can score.
