Half cup bras: why don't we see them more often?
Hey ladies, quick fashion question for you: why is it that you don't wear half cup bras more often? I mean bras that still support your breasts from below, but leave your nipples uncovered. I think that's INCREDIBLY hot and would even look great under form fitting tops because your breasts would still be held up but your get a bit of a sense of the nipple too. Not to mention, being able to get a peak when you have on a loose fitting top. Even if you were wearing a sweater, I'd still imagine it'd feel sexy to know you're nipples are uncovered, and of course when you took your shirt off when you're with a guy you'd get a GREAT reaction. Is it because they're uncomfortable? Not available in enough stores? Not advertised enough?

Sorry, I should've been clearer in my question. I didn't mean would you wear this for every day use, and the purpose ISN'T to walk around town flashing and turning random guys on. The idea is would this be something you'd wear to:

1) feel sexy--like how matching bras and panties make you feel sexy even if NO ONE ELSE sees them, and 2) for special occasions/dates/nights out with a guy you like or your boyfriend or husband to add some excitement.

OK. Sounds like the biggest issue is that leaving the nipple uncovered would cause a lot of discomfort with friction against fabric. Also sounds like quite a few would occasionally like this to spice things up. Hope to see some soon! LOL!

Perhaps the better solution is full support bras with see through cups or that are see through on the top half. I guess these are more common, but you still don't see them terribly often. Is that type of material more expensive, less comfortable or less washer safe?

What Girls & Guys Said
28 4i have never tried, seen, or heard of a bra like this, and I dnt think it would be very comfortable and everybody would be able to see my nipples sticking out through my top. I think I would wear it in the bedroom to spice things up.
Isn't time for your medication though? You sound lunatic.
What?
You're indecent and surely would burn in hell.
A little extreme reaction for underwear, no? How do you feel about thongs or g-strings? And all of this is UNDER clothes (hence the term. . . UNDERwear). Haha!
It doesn't seem comfortable and no,im not imterested in giving anyone a peek-a-boo session. But for my boyfriend yeah...sure.
I had no idea they existed.
Nipples rubbing on t-shirt material all day would burn
Ah. That makes sense. So clearly it wouldn't be versatile. But are there any types of fabric for which it wouldn't be irritating? Maybe silk?
Yeah, I guess but mostly no, not cute shirts anyways. guys t-shirts are like the only thing soft enough...
Huh! I didn't realize our t-shirts are softer than yours! Does the friction against fabric irritate just the nipple or the areola too? So for instance, if the cup fell so that the nipple was just inside would that work or would it irritate?
Just the nipple because it sticks out more. I think it would work if the nipple was covered, but I wouldn't know for sure.
Because most girls don't want their nipples showing through or creepy guys trying to steal a peak down their tops.
LOL! So clearly not for everyday use. I'm not talking about wearing it to the office with a shirt unbuttoned. More for a particularly hot date, or under a normal shirt so there's no danger of creepy guys stealing a peek!
So at home? Pretty much anywhere you go there will be men who will be checking out your boobs, and wearing a bra like that will give them much more reason to. You might want to look hot for one particular guy, but that doesn't mean he's going to be the only guy staring, and not every girl is comfortable with that.
True, but for example, if you were to go out on a date with a guy with a dress that shows cleavage other guys would see it, but the main person benefiting would by YOUR guy. And if you wore it under something with full coverage it'd only be visible when you took off your shirt when you're alone (like with a thong). Finally, just like wearing a thong makes girls feel sexy even though it's not visible to everyone, I wondered if this would too.
making sure your nipples don't show though your shirt is just like wearing a thong under dress so that your panty lines don't show..
and I don't think that's enough support.. and if your a D cup or bigger there's a high chance of your breasts coming out of it unless it was really well made.. and if your willing to wear a half cup bra then why not wear none
So you don't think it's possible to get adequate support from below and the sides? The point isn't to be braless. The idea is just to show a little more for the sex appeal. Maybe just cut low enough for areola peekage.
yea I don't think its possible only because I haven't tried one and haven't seen one before and didn't know they existed.. i agree with anon girl who said "Nipples rubbing on t-shirt material all day would burn" probably the reason theyre not used as much is cause if a girl KNEW they existed and KNEW it would be "INCREDIBLY HOT" she would wear it only for a special occasion.. but only if she knew..
Fair enough. I guess that's what I'm trying to figure out. If you don't see them much because the manufacturers just don't make them and women haven't really thought about it or had the chance to try it, or if you don't see it because it's fundamentally a bad idea and woman wouldn't buy it anyway. The irritation issue would point to the latter. I think the support issue should be solvable.
about the irritation .. anything pyjama-like material will be fine.. I don't know what's it like in other families but I'm sure that in our house we don't wear bras at home. and the support I meant my reasons for believing its not good support aren't really convincing so it might be possible :]
OK, thanks! Still, I don't think I'm going to drop my life savings into starting a new business based on this just yet! lol! I was just thinking about it because I think some women would like it and you don't see it on the market and it's certainly tough to advertise, but if you made it maybe it's a viable business. But the irritation issue might be what kills it. Not too many tops have the consistency of pajamas.
i didn't know you were thinking of opening a business.. but an easy business would be food, good food will always have customers and all kinds of customers it doesn't have to be targeted for an age or a gender, you would just have to make sure no one gets sick eating it and people who work there are nice
Food is an incredibly competitive business--there are TONS of companies that experiment with all manner of things. I wasn't seriously thinking about doing this as a business myself, but just wondered why it wasn't being done now. The idea is that it would look sexy and so would probably make the wearer FEEL sexy. But if it's too uncomfortable, then that'd be a good reason not to buy it. Or if support wasn't working, but good fit should solve that.
