How many sexual partners does the average college girl have?

I recently read a survey which said that women have an average of 3 sexual partners. Now it didn't confine this to ages and didn't explain the statistics, but I think this is a very inaccurate portrayal of the average woman today. College offers suitable social conditions and an ample supply of the opposite sex to have lots of sexual partners, if you so wished. Now it can be reasonably accepted that the average woman can gain a sexual encounter than the average man (note the word average). I'd like a girl to tell me honestly how many sexual partners they or their girlfriends tend to have in any college year. I'm aware that girls tend to underestimate their sexual history (and guys overestimate). Some girls tend to cry foul about this, that they will be "judged" as loose. Well I'll be honest here, I would judge a girl who has a long list of casual partners. I would not be impressed by it. That's just me; I can't speak for other men though I'm sure many think the same way. Leaving that aside - we're on the Internet now and it's pretty well anonymous - I'd like girls to give me an honest figure for statistical purposes. I'd say it's quite commonplace for the average college girl to have (a) a lot of sexual partners and (b) a lot more than guys tend to. Insight and honesty appreciated.

I am a guy and I believe that guys in general need to understand that women have the same sexual curiosities when they go off to college. If a guy had as many sexual partners as a woman does he have a right to judge her or call her names?

I'm 21 and almost finished with college, I just have a few weeks left. I actually only lost my virginity last year and since then I've had 7 partners. I don't think its a big deal. It's just sex, sex is fun, and if you're doing it safely I see no reason to restrict yourself. In fact I think its pretty shitty that people judge women for having multiple partners while the media is basically telling us that is the norm. Women have needs and we shouldn't be slut shamed for acting on them.
There's a difference between needs, and wants. Oxygen is a need. Sex is a want. What you're doing is shameful. But it's also shameful for the men who go along with it. Just because "society" doesn't see it that way, doesn't mean it isn't.
I have to start by saying that I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and manic promiscuity is part of my disorder. I am in my senior year in college and I have slept with 43 people since I was 17. This is an average of 5 guys a year or a different guy every 2-2.5 months. I agree that this is excessive and I've slept with two guys in the same day and had every combination of three some out there as well as a foursome in another country. From what I've read this is way out of the norm but aside from my kinky or goes I knew each partner intimately and can recite the name of everyone I've ever slept with. I use a condom every single time and get tested regularly. There is no shame in my game.

I'm 19 and in my first year at college. I lost my virginity at 16 and had sex with three people before college, 10 during and 1 whilst I've been at home. I've also never been in a relationship.

okay, so honestly I have been thinking about this a lot lately and its really been bugging me. personally, I am 24. my number is 28. when first figuring this out I totally panicked and freaked. yes, I am more than a bit of a partier- but after contemplating it, I decided that I have just been looking for the right one. I think that maybe the people who are in the single digits and are uppity about it have to realize that not all of us are lucky enough to find true love when we are 18. maybe sometimes it takes a lot of shopping around to get it right. good for you that you found mr. perfect, if you know another one can you introduce me? maybe I'm picky, or maybe I am just easy. but you know what? I'm happy. and you know what else? I still love sex.
Get it right? Lol wut? After a while you meet the right people. At a certain point it becomes a choice: the right person or diversity. You chose diversity.
i'm 18, coming up for 19, and in my second year of university, currently I have had 32(I think) sexual partners. the majority of these were one night stands, two were boyfriends and one or two were repeat performances. four of these were also due to threesomes. hope this helps.

I'm nineteen and have been in college for 2 years. I've had sex with 6 guys while in college; I hadn't had sex at all before going to college, so that works out to about 3 guys a year on average. Only 2 of them were boyfriends, and the rest were one night stands that I (mainly) regret.
I think that's a reasonable number though. Some of my friends my age have had sex with over 100 guys and some have had sex with less than 3. I don't think any number below five represents a realistic average, although obviously I judge my friends who have had many sexual partners, and myself when I have a one night thing with a random guy. I consider myself fairly responsible and non-whoreish and I would say that anything between 5 and 10 guys during college is commonplace for girls. Bear in mind that girls often round down their numbers of sexual partners, and men usually round up. Girls should definitely have the right to sleep around without being judged unfairly in relation to guys. But with that being said, just because we have the right to sleep around doesn't mean its always a good call.
I know I am a little bit late on this topic but I found it while looking for something else.
Well first off, I have to agree with the fact that women tend to "fall" into sex more so than men. I believe that any woman, big or small, tall or skinny can walk into a room with a few guys and say "who wants to have sex tonight?" and at least one of those guys, if not all of them, will raise their hand up and volunteer themselves. Where as a man, can NOT do that unless he is a movie star or athlete.
I am a 23 year old male with 4 years of completed college. Now while my numbers don't matter because the question pertains to womens sexual encounters. I have had 168 sexual partners, with my current love of my life sleeping next to me on the bed, she makes 169 approx. Its a little hard to count when you have "dry spells".
As for women though, It all depends on certain "variables". Where did she grow up? Did she have brothers who were protective? Is she a preachers daughter? (kidding) Does she have an addictive personality? Is she self-conscious about how others might view her depending upon that? Usually the answers are simple, as a few women have said previously.. women tend to group together who are similar, like-minded if you will. Birds of a feather, flock together...
Still, overall, I believe the average to be anywhere from 3-15. There is a saying about always take a womans number and multiply it by 3 to find the true number of sexual partners and divide the guys number by 3 to find his true number of partners. (kind of the under-estimate/over-estimate part)

i think the average man or women has about 5 in a lifetime I'm 23 and I've had 2 its not that easy when you have morals and aren't up for little meaningless flings but the worlds a bit odd now days not to mention the old addage goes man cheats on woman personally from my exp its the other way around esp when your young, not to mention I don't go out much to bars and clubs where most of the "hipsters"/ money grubs congrigate ;) but I am italian so I have my looks and personality

Well, I came to college already in a relationship and now that I am in my sophomore year I can easily say I've only had one partner (my boyfriend) since starting school. Based on my friends, I can also tell you the average number of sexual partners is one, but keep in mind we've only completed one year of college.
Well, I was very promiscuous as a teenager, so by the time I was in college I had had sex with almost 40 people and that is not counting "other" things, like oral sex. Now once I got in college I totally slowed down and only had sex with 4 people the entire time before getting married.
