Model bodies...too thin, or just right?

Everyone seems to look at the Victoria's Secret models as the "ideal body." Don't get me wrong, those girls are beautiful, but I do find their weight to be a little bit disturbing. Their faces, hair, skin, height, everything is really lovely, but the fact that some of them are only 110 lbs at 5'11" is shocking to me. It looks like it photographs really well, but in person, they must look like skeletons. I am just over 5'8" and 125 lbs and my boyfriend is always making fun of me for my ribs sticking out. I actually want to GAIN a little weight! I can't imaging losing 15 lbs and being almost 3 inches taller. I probably sound jealous or something, but that is really not what the purpose of this post is. I guess my question is, do guys really like women to be that thin? Is that really the ideal body?

  • Most mainstream models that I've seen are too skinny. Victoria Secret does a good job of choosing women that don't look sickly thin. Other models that I've seen...look like they starve themselves to be that size. VERY unattractive.

Skinny/slender is fine...as long as she is naturally built to be like that. If she looks like she's eating only celery & rice cakes to be that size...not good.

I like women of all sizes, as long as she's healthy-looking. :)

  • I like them

  • Models bodies are extremely false, I personally like women to be natural

  • i love thicker girls with big juicy bums

models are way to skinny some are apealing!

  • it's ridiculously thin. I'm 5'1" and 112lbs and look healthy. it's sadly that sickly thin is considered beautiful. the curvier models of 1950's are way more beautiful than the anorexic ones of today in my opinion.

  • models are too tall and skinny

  • They are a little too thin for me.

  • NO. guys don't like those scrawny girls. look at mens magazines: playboy, maxim, fhm. you'll never see scrawny girls there because guys don't like that. this is the big lie being sold to women by horrible rags like cosmo and vogue.

victoria's secret girls are sort of inbetween. not too skinny, but not too curvy either.

  • Models are too skinny. They show so much, they don't look good.

  • depends on the guy...but I think most men prefer a more curvy women compared to a thin one...but like I said it varies from guy to guy

  • Models and modeling suck.

  • Purely weight-wise, no, not ideal. As most guys here will tell you, curvy is good for most of us. Also, I completely agree with the current Best Awnser.

  • you know your never going to look exacly like that and that's how they make their $$$$ selling you fauls hope. your fine as you are don't give a crap obout the models their just their slaves

  • too thin, I like a girl with some meat on her bones.

  • My girlfriend is a model at one of the most high end agencies, FORD, and she does a lot of runway/print.
She says that VS models are very FIT. most of them are more muscles than just fat. they train hard and eat oraganic food and lots of vitamines.
So the VS models are actually healthy. but that doesn't mean you are less attractive just because you dont look like them.
Modeling is tough industry and not every girl can be as successful as the VS models. I wouldn't criticize on them, they have to look fit for their jobs. like i said it is a career for them.
for the other women, just be healthy :) that is all really.

  • to thin

  • No they fall under the average category... its just that being overweight is the new norm now a days... 50 years ago the people that are overweight would be obese back then

    • you are wrong. look up their height and look up their weight. then do a bmi check. I weigh 20 lbs more than them and I am shorter, and I am just in the normal range. I used to way a lot less and people would ask me if I was sick. it may have photographed well, but it is a very low weight for that height. that's a fact.

  • i don't like skinny or fat girls but how can you say models are too skinny. some of them are. but a lot of them actually have muscle tone. this isn't the 90s. models are not skin over bones anymore!

    to name a few:

    adriana lima

    bar refaeli

    kitty lea

    jade bryce

    brooklyn decker.

  • It is sick, and I think it depends on the guy, btu a few guys I know are very unrealistic and think a VS body is normal and obtainable, and super-hot. I tell these guys to get a reality check. besides, the girls they like in person are not as perfect as the models in the magazines. to me, victoria's secret is the best way to make girls feel inferior. I'm not jealous of them or anything, I have no desire to be a model and starve myself, and never will, and I am more than comfortable with my body, and I know I have a nice body, have been told so by many guys. I am not "VS perfect", I have a pretty face and a unique look, I'm short but thin and hourglass (size 2-6 depending on the store) and nowhere near as tall or skinny or perfect as VS model. Do I care? No. VS is unrealistic, while they may be beautiful to look at they are almost sub human. almost nobod is that perfect.

  • The girls here look like they are in good condition, link

They seem fit skinny, they are slim but no bones, there are muscles there. The difference is girls who are skinny because they don't eat and those who are thin because they work out or live healthy.

Bones are not attractive but a fit slim women is. One of the newer rules in modeling is that the models have to be a size 6, that's the Ideal now.

    • Sadly, it's typically less than a 6. Unless they are very, very tall.
