What are some advice you can share about the pull out method?
My boyfriend and I decided to try out the pullout method last night rather than use a condom for the first time. He told me he made sure to pull out before he put out and said he's sure nothing happened inside of me. I'm completely okay with the idea of us having unprotected sex because I trust him but is there anything I should know since I'm new to this whole thing? Like how often doing this would you say is too much?

16 23you want to get pregnant? then usethe pull out method.
Just know that there's a huge possibility that you'll get preggo. If your not using condoms, you need birth control.
approximately 1 in 2000 of getting pregnant if he pulls out effectively.
IF he pulls out effectively, every single time. But he's only human, and he could make a mistake.
@samhradh_leannan this stat was pulled from a study of 100 guys over a year. the mistakes are accounted for.. 4 ended up pregnant.
source?
bedsider.org/.../310-5-myths-about-pulling-out-busted
"Out of 100 couples who were withdrawal rock stars—meaning they pulled out correctly every time they had sex—about four of them would get pregnant in a year. But it can be a challenge to pull out for lots of reasons, and most people have days when they’re not feeling like rock stars of any kind. That’s why out of 100 average couples using withdrawal, 22 will get pregnant in a year."
If you don't want to get pregnant, it seems like a risky way to go about protecting yourself. Why not splurge and get some condoms or get on the pill?
@untotal bedsider.org/.../310-5-myths-about-pulling-out-busted
52 weeks * 4 sessions a week * 100 couples = approx 20000
22/ 20000 = approx 1: 1000
i lied, sorry.
Worth the risk? Or $12 bucks a month for a box of condoms... cheaper than diapers, right?
@Lovelinefanyour dbatei s fueled by emotion
@Lovelinefan your entire debate is fueled by emotion.
That's fair, but if you're having sex more than once a week (which I'm assuming they are) I feel like that's a pretty big risk to take. Not my body though, so I can't dictate what they do
@untotal 4 times a week is the figure i used.
Yeah, but it's ~1/2000 per session based on your math. If they were to have sex 4 times a week, her chance of getting pregnant is higher than if they just do once a week.
@untotal 1 in 2000 based on precum stats and rockstar prformance (4 outta 100 in a year) average people 22 outta 100 a year... w/o precum stats (negligible here although u can add on.002 percent) = 1:1000
I didn't dispute your math! :) Just pointed out that I personally don't think the pullout method is valid because if they have sex multiple times a week, it's more likely that she'll get pregnant.
Yeah there's some emotion involved, I'll admit, it does frustrate the hell out of me to think that there are teenagers and young adults out there who are not able to, or barely able to take care of themselves, yet they're getting pregnant and cranking out kids that they're PROBABLY not in the best position to care for. It frustrates me that people think "Oh, well it won't happen to me" and then it does. It frustrates me that people who say they can't afford condoms are going to risk getting pregnant, and then the tax dollars that I pay are going to go towards government assistance for mothers who can't handle the financial responsibility of having a kid. So yeah, I guess it is emotion based in part. But if there are 100 young girls who read this site and decide to forego birth control and just do the pull-out method (And I can only imagine these would hardly be the "pros" at pulling out), and 4, or 10, or 22 of them get pregnant by accident this year, it's irresponsible to encourage.
@untotal this is multiple times a week! the math is based on having sex 4 times a week. all of it. 4 sessions * 52 weeks * 100 people = 20800 20000/22 = 1: 945.45
err 20800/22 = 1:945.45 this is starting to get cluttered..
It looks like you're finding the chances of her getting pregnant if they have sex once though? Just based off of stats of people that had sex 4 times a week.
I'm just curious how come you are so hardcore about promoting the pull out method as a good means of birth control? Do you have a personal chip on your shoulder against condom companies or the manufacturers of birth control pills? You seem to be very very enthusiastic about encouraging risk taking when it comes to pregnancy!
@Lovelinefan i like being right. subject i irrelevant.
I give up. Feel better, orphan?
@samhradh_leannan
don't rely on it if you are not ready to get pregnant
You're at risk because the pre-ejaculatory fluid has sperms too.
worse method because the pre-cum he release during sex can lead you to pregnant, if he penetrate till end he would not able to pull at right time, if he pull out a bit early and jack himself off on your mouth or body its look like cheap porn with no pleasure.
Studies show it's as effective as using a condom if done properly, but much more risky because guys are dumb and won't always do it properly. Do so at your own risk lol
I am currently taking an anatomy class and we discussed this. It is impossible because of the spinal reflex arc and it is under sympathetic control. In English, it means it is uncontrollable and inevitable and don't recommend it. Please keep the baby.
Well you can get preg from his precum. Precum is more potent that ejaculation so your playing Russian rullettee each time. And just because hadn't happen yet more you do it higher chance it could. Get on bc
will get you pregnant. Also a turn off... can';t finish sex.

The pull out method, when completed correctly, has a failure rate comparable to condoms. What makes it "risky" is actually perhaps human lack of control or impulsiveness but generally speaking the method itself is a perfectly valid form of birth control and has a low incidence rating.
Here is someone who nails it on the head. no pun intended.
The pullout method is often the way to accidental pregnancy.
