Well, I'm speaking here as a woman who just recently had a guy do this for the first time. It was the first time we had sex. Beforehand I would have had a strong opinion against this too but it really wasn't a big deal. I wasn't really into it but I just brushed his hand away if I felt like it was more than I wanted and he easily let his hand go. It was just playful. He put his hand on my throat 2 or 3 times. You're partly wrong, i like to be dominated by my boyfriend during sex, i do kind of like to be choked. However he respects me, he treats me like a queen I also do not see myself as an object.. Some people are just into rough sex, dominance etc.
Was it a really hard choke? If not, it could be something that turns him on and he doesn't know it's not acceptable.
If it was a hard choke, you should probably let him know you're not comfortable with that. Heck, even if it wasn't and you're uncomfortable, let him know.
