Why do some women insist on waiting till marriage to have sex?

If not for religious reasons, why wait until marriage to have sex? I understand waiting until you feel you’re in love, ready and comfortable with your partner but what does marriage have anything to do with it? Are you worried he‘s only in it for the sex? Afraid he will bail if you were to ever become pregnant? Do women feel that a marriage certificate is the only way to ensure a man will stick around? While these reasons all sound quite logical, they have nothing to do with love and everything to do with fear, doubt and mistrust. Why would you want to marry a man you can’t trust? And what’s so romantic and beautiful about making a man sign a contract before letting him sleep with you? If you truly love and trust your partner, why let a marriage certificate get in the way of becoming intimate? Now, I’m not saying women should lose their virginity to any man who shows even the faintest interest; I personally believe sex should be between two consenting adults who are in love, or at the very least, comfortable with themselves and each other. But marriage and love are not the same thing. So ladies, I ask: What’s the real reason behind remaining abstinent? Is it love, like so many claim? Or are you willing to admit is it fear of being abandoned?

  • id much rather marry a girl like this, sure women say they had an emotional connection with a man and do stuff and experiment, then most likely they marry another man and if they stay together forever then all those previous relationships were unnecessary all it did was give her baggage for the husband to deal with and now she let men come in her swallowed their come sucked their d*** no man really wants to think their women would spread their legs for another man I guess that's why most of use will end up single ultimately, and why there are so many single moms, the single mom thing is an epidemic in the western world generations of boys growing up without fathers like it or not a boy does need a man to teach him how to be a man a women cannot do that, marriage gives you certain protections financially that not being married does not. mainly even in the animal kingdom monkeys and apes will f*** at random but they tend to have life long mates and when they were getting f***ed by others previously they didn't let the male finish not like modern women all this stuff that's going on with the pill and "couples" having sex without condoms letting their man for the moment come in them is just not natural it goes against our nature

  • It's not just women who do this - men do it too.

One of my good friends for example waited until he was married to have sex; and I don't think it had all that much to do with his upbringing or background or anything seen as both his brothers didn't do the same thing. It was just a personal choice.

As far as I understand it he thinks it's an incredibly intimate thing and only wanted to experience that with one person - with the woman he's going to be with for the rest of his life; or at least plans to - sadly I have much less confidence than he does in the marriage lasting forever.

Anyway - he's the only person I know who's abstained from sex until marriage - but I think it's a lot less common here.

  • I believe marriage to be the proof of love

That he's willing to wait with me, to stand up in front of our families, in front of God and make a vow to dedicate our lives to one another, becoming one, forsaking all others. That's love to me.

Any man can have sex. The number of women, number of times, number of places doesn't impress me. It's the man who's able to wait that impresses me because it tells me that it means something to him.

  • so they don't get used and dumped afterward, so the guy dosn't p*ss off if pregnancy happens, so they know he's in it for more then sexual reasons, so he's the only man you share that part of your life with, and your the only woman to him... there are heaps of reasons. But my reason to remain abstinent is because I don't like sex, so I guess I won't be getting married either.

    • man you sounded like a keeper until that last sentence

    • sex isn't all it's hyped up to be in my oppinion and I don't want it in my life, it just causes problems.

  • Marriage is ordained and sanctified by God. Only my husband should have access

  • because they want it to be special or something along those lines but I think its silly as most people get married in their thirties now or something.

  • I completely understand your question, I have also always wondered about that...

  • some men too
