Are boobs sexual by nature? Are they over-sexualized by men?

I believe boobs are sexual by nature. Men have been sexually attracted to women's breasts for decades. Beyond that, their function relates to pregnancy and childbirth, and therefore I'd say they're also related to sex.

I've had a conversation with a very close friend, who was strongly on the opposite side of the fence. She believes boobs are non-sexual.

I'd like to know what you guys think

  • They’re not sexual by nature. There are many tribes that still exist today that would think that’s disturbing and disgusting because the breasts are for the baby and not for sex which is why they don’t cover them. Whereas, you will always see the genitals covered

    • It's very helpful to think about it this way, thank you!

  • They’re sexual by nature, and they are also oversexualized by men. Everything about women is oversexualized by men.

    • MHO for the response you gave on another opinion

  • Not sexual by nature but sexualized by media and men because sex sells as a buisness - TV, movies, mags, billboards, porn... the true reason why women have breast isn't for these reasons to lure men, use them to entice a bartender to get a free drink... the biological reason is to feed and nurture babies. Think of it this way, when a model is breastfeeding her child is placed on a cover of a magazine it would grab attention and spark controversy wouldn't it - hell I see such inappropriate comments and backlash on the mother about it on social media so I can't imagine the reaction if it made the front page of a magazine. Take that same model, minus the baby but put her in a low cut revealing dress that shows cleavage. There wouldn't be viral backlash on her nor strong comments and debates.

  • I dont care to breastfeed and i only see my boobs as sexual

  • Mainly they're for breastfeeding.. But are they sexual they definitely are funny how people talk about media and shit as if like the only time men liked breasts was when mark Zuckerberg invented Facebook men have been like that since forever heterae women aka prostitutes existed in ancient greece for a reason.. psychologically men have been attracted to looks and will always be while women are attracted to confidence status and how you handle yourself financially it's that easy.. If there is one thing the media has been doing actually is emasculating men and telling them not to objectify women as if like thinking a woman is sexy is a bad thing which ultimately makes these men look like weasels and typical nice guys while the other dudes are fucking everything alive sorry for the exaggeration at the end but i can't take it i see it everywhere I'm one of the lucky few who get it and who are privileged enough while other men go unnoticed that's how bad this is

    • Another good example is Victorian furniture

  • Anything can be made sexual. If women never showed their calves except in bed, then after a while calves would become desirable and people would link them to sex and then it would be illegal to walk around with your calves out.

    • Agreed... i myself was pretty skinny and all and i by time i got a bit chubby or curvy and the attention was different

  • I think if you are a man
you are probably gonna be blamed for everything anyways

    • That's right, I'm white, I'm male, and it's my fault ✌🏼

    • Precisely hahaha

    • Honestly I get tired of the double standards but its a role we are suppose to play these days I consider myself VERY liberal on most issues but to the degree of some of the "Civil Rights" style movements.. its just taken to far where it means almost nothing anymore

  • First of all, just because something has been done for decades does not mean it's natural. Breasts have an important natural function and should not be sexualised to the point that they cannot perform this function around others at all or comfortably. However, I believe that I've read somewhere that, after we started walking upright, our butts (a main feature that was sexually desirable) became less prominent and so breasts served to imitate the shape of a round butt. That's most likely just a theory though, not a fact.

  • Nah obviously boobs are for breastfeeding and aren't suppose to be sexual at all. Women do get sexual pleasure from them but only because orgasms and the bonding during breastfeeding happen from the same hormones.
But dont get me wrong breastfeeding can still get pretty inappropriate. Just look at all these babies that are flipping off everyone 😂

Are boobs sexual by nature? Are they over-sexualized by men?
  • Well, here's a fact:

In places like Mali, it's a woman's thighs that are sexualized instead of her breasts. I don't think bobs are are sexual my nature but its more of a societal thing.

  • Breasts are totally sexual by nature as they are designed to capture the attention of the male species and attract a mate. A girl with really nice boobs (regardless of size) will inevitably cause enormous erections (stiff hard penises) in the men who are vying for her attention. When the girl sees that her guy friends all have boners from looking at her, she is pleased and often sucks the dick until she is fed with his gooey warm sperm. See? Boobs are totally sexual.

  • 32% of girls said boobs are non sexual. So I guess you never want your boobs touched or played with during sex too?

  • Not sexual by nature at all.

it don't take a lot to make things by nature to natrually reproduce. It just takes hormons. And this works in nature well enough. there is no reason for anything else. look at dogs they just bang everything when there homons flair do you think they have a complex understanding what is hot or not nien.

Reasons why not, cause reproducing by nature isn't a mental thing it's a hormon droven thing. The more complex at mental thinking becomes the more we can control are hormones. But due to how hormones still work in humans really well.
There would be no need for women to gain boobs to be more sexual. The slight change to there scent and hormons is more than enough to make 99% of people want to have sex in there in life.
The 1% been asexuals who are ethier to complex in there mind so they just ignore homons and scent or have much less homons or damaged homons.

Boobs be there just for babies. Monkeys don't have boobs just to make them more attractive lol.

  • in some cultures a woman's breast, butt or hips size can effect. how people view her partly based on knowing. if she'll be more likely to have and care for children. or even produce strong healthy children.

however over time these and some other features have become more sexual.

  • I just happen to have a pair of my own 🤪

  • Breasts were made for breast feeding. Not to be grabbed or sucked by adults. Men and media sexualized them. Why I can't leave my house shirtless

    • No other mammalian species on the entire planet has permanently enlarged breasts like humans do. Other animals will experience a brief period of enlargement during ovulation or after they have delivered young, but humans are different. For other animals, it’s accurate to say that their breasts serve the exclusive evolutionary and biological purpose of feeding young, but not us. For us, breasts evolved to be permanently enlarged assets as a result of sexual selection. Women with enlarged breasts were more likely to attain a mate, produce offspring, and pass down their genes, and overtime it became normal for women’s breasts to enlarge and accumulate fat cells during puberty, where they would stay for more or less the rest of her life. Large breasts, in combination with other qualities such as narrow waists and wide hips, are also signs of increased fertility. The more fertile a woman is, the more likely she has larger breasts. It’s a biological signal to potential mates that says “hey, look at me, I’m worthy of producing offspring with,” similar to the size of antlers/horns in other species or the colors of a peacock’s feathers. Breasts were evolved to help attract a mate. They are sexual by nature. Men definitely oversexualize them, but there’s a reason they’re so sexualized to begin with.

    • @CarpetDenim Thank you for saving me a bunch of typing. In what should surprise no one, there IS a biological answer to the question, and you stated it perfectly.

    • @MrOracle Yeah np lol, perhaps I should have written this in my own opinion rather than in a reply to someone where no one else will see it.

  • Not sexual by nature, are over sexualised by society in general, especially in media/advertising

  • Well men were naturally attracted to breasts as it was a sign of fertility or something, not really sure.
Breasts are overly sexualized in the modern world.
But I do believe they are sexual to a small degree. Breasts are a very common erogenous zone for a lot of women. So that does kinda make it sexual.

    • Hips are a sign of fertility, breasts aren't. Guys are also attracted to asses which makes no biological sex. Sometimes you can blame media and society and no biology

    • sense** not sex lol

    • Probably yeah, that's makes sense

  • I think men tend to see them as more sexual than they really are. At the same time, a caress from a lover feels really nice.

  • To me, they've been a symbol of femininity and womanhood, and something sexual and sexy.

I feel like they're a little sexual by nature because they are an erogenous zone for me.

  • Over-sexualized by both men and women.

  • Your friend who believes boobs are non-sexual is pretty clueless. She really ought to check the empirical evidence on this.

    • Also, what the hell does "over-sexualized" even mean? What's the appropriate amount of sexualization for something? Who decides that?
