  • I think there's some truth to that.. Maybe something happened in somebody's past that they don't wanna talk about and overall would rather not dwell on past things.. At least ilas it pertains to themselves.. Now if they are opened about their past and still says the past doesn't matter, I usually think they don't have a great past and doesn't wanna pass judgement on anybody else's past. I'm in the court that the past does matter to an extent, but it's still the past..

  • The past is just a path to the future so how it doesn't matter. Everything good or bad in the past shaped who u r NOW. If u had good parents that affected u. If u had an injury then it did affect u now. U were a child in the past thats why u r an adult now. Our past is us

  • Some people regret even silly minor things from their past. So no, I don’t think people saying that is bad or even discriminatory.

  • Yeah, they aren't introspective and live in denial to cope with reality.

  • Just maybe they're trying to forget it.

  • Your past absolutely does matter because it tells me what your judgment is like. It gives me insights into the kind of person you are.

  • Probably lol

  • I say its a sign of people's insecurity. People make mistakes. I say own it learn from it and now on.

  • I've already had 4 girlfriends.. so it doesn't really matter 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • It matters until it doesn’t

  • It's funny how the people that say say this generally have the most checkered past.🤣

  • Yes, those that say ''the past doesn't matter'' are often insecure about their own past, and expect everyone to be as insecure as they are.

  • Sometimes, I say it because I prefer looking forward as opposed to backwards

  • 'The past is the past' is almost exclusively used by those who are either ashamed of their past or have been promiscuous. This society is allergic to consequences and will do anything to avoid them... particularly rationalizations as 'the past doesn't matter'. Everything we have done has contributed to who we are...
