I really don’t think that can happen. Not with out any thoughts of having sex with them or being with them. Even if you don’t act upon it the thoughts are still there.

I think it can be platonic from one person at the very least. Also if you're gay and your friend is the same then you won't be sexually attracted to each other.

Yes two people of opposite genders can be platonic friends. I have platonic girlfriends that I would not have sex with. A younger more shallow immature me didn't think this way though, when I was younger I'd only befriend girls that I found attractive and would sleep with if given the chance. Thank god I'm not like that anymore.
