Can you detect apps/websites/virus that secretly films you?

So according to this article above the software security firm Checkmarx discovered a bug (?) in androids in 2019 that allowed apps to have access to the camera even if the users did not give them the permission for the access to the camera. Smartphones from Google and Samsung were affected. The problem is solved now, of course but who knows what other security problems there are.

Furthermore, the security company Proofpoint reports that there is a Trojan 'PsiXBot' since September 2019 which can film you as soon as a porn site is opened. The video is saved as an AVI file and then it get sent to a server. And you dont notice it and can't really even detect whether you have this trojan or not.- Sorry this is kinda funny. I mean imagine you find your grandpa's, uncle's etc mastrubation video on the internet 😆🤣

  • Wow. . . phones of course are the next big target for viruses. So easy to spread, so many devices, if you can infect billions of devices, you could do almost anything.

I actually met Eugene Kaspersky at a seminar once. He said and I quote, "if you can infect millions of devices it is much easier to talk about the things you cannot do, than to list the things that you can. "

  • My computer's camera can, with some difficulty, be made to work with Windows XP. Anything after that, it's flat-out noncompatible with, and as a result, it's never plugged in. If a program manages to record me with that, I'm inclined to say "let them"; I don't know what power on Earth could possibly stop them.

But seriously- you can't take remote control of hardware that doesn't exist. Take it out, and the danger passes. Then again, maybe that's part of why so many companies are pushing hardware that can't be removed without breaking the whole thing.

  • Your cameras on all your devices can easily be manipulated to record you, that includes your phone's, Smart TVs etc. I saw an interview where even Mark Zuckerberg puts tape over the lense on his computer when he uses Facebook.

    • I wish i was wise as you at your age

    • Thanks, but there's much smarter, creepier people out there who know everything about tech stuff because some of them designed it. They can hack into your vehicle's system to unlock it, start it, or shut it off. They can hack into your security cameras or even your baby monitors in some cases. These days they can get access to just about anything that's connected to the internet in some way.

  • The answer? Cover your phone cams, when not in use, with a bit of masking tape.

    • I am doing it right now but it is kinda too late. I should have do it when having my first smart phone
