I understand the jist of your question. For me, somethings get me "harder' than others. A girl I knew many moons ago, said to me once, Well, there is 'hard' and then there is "HARD"!!! I think she knew the difference, with different men, and the difference between the levels of 'hardness' of an erection.
When I think about it, I'm not sure if it is the 'level of attraction' i. e. how nice the body of the woman is, shape, contours, etc. or just the 'sexual situation, i. e. thinking: 'I'm going to get to penetrate this woman" and your penis is like a broom handle !
I think the best way to answer your question is by suggesting, that you think about how you 'lubricate' during different sexual situations. If you are going to have sex with someone that you have sex with regularly, you will probably lubricate enough to accommodate his penis easily. Then, on the other hand, if you have a ' one night stand' with some really attractive guy you just met, and are in a very comfortable place, you would probably lubricate a LOT more, and may even 'drip' to some degree. I have seen a woman with her lubricant actually 'dripping' ( a 'string' of lubricant) 'hanging' down from her vagina.
I think that is the extremes we are talking about here, and you can relate to the difference between 'hard' and "HARD" by thinking about how you lubricate under different sexual situations.

From my experiene, yes.
If I am interested in her I can get aroused. If she responds in a like manner, my body will prepare for the possibility of sex, including getting an erection. The erection is caused by blood vessels opening and closing causing the penis to swell and become erect. 90% of the time, it will reach its maximum hardness. If it does not reach that maximum, it is likely something is wrong, possibly just too tired.
But if I get hard for a woman, it will usually be 100% Pretty much all in or not in at all.

It's more about my mentality in that moment. For example if it's our first time sleeping together, I'm excited because it's new and it's probably been a while. I'm going to be harder than if it's one of those, half hearted, roller over and have sex because she assumes I wanna have sex and I assume she expects me to wanna have sex, but really we just want to go to sleep kinda night.
