Question inspired by a TV show.Scene from AHS: a man unzips his pants and gets on top of a woman to rape her. She pulls a gun out of his pocket and kills him.In real life, do you believe that a person should have the right to use lethal self-defense against someone who's trying to rape them?

Before rape it will assumably be physical assault and I think the laws allow that already. You'd still probably get jail time but not that much... but if you can't prove what was gonna happen... you might be/get in trouble...

I believe they have the right to use as much violence as necessary to defend themselves, but that can be tested just as it can in other legal scenarios around self defence.

Depends what state she did it in. The situation described does seem to meet the standard for self defense. Some blue states will fry you for self defense though.

It's like any other self defense situation. If someone is attacking you, you can and should defend yourselves to the best of your abilities. If that ends in death so be it.

In the UK a home invader can sue the homeowner for defending their property. So the rule of "reasonable application of force in self defense" is way too stringent. In America you can legally shoot a man for breaking and entering, as far as I can tell. So shooting a man dead for trying to rape you seems a lot more justified than killing someone who just wants to nick your material possessions

Although lethal defense should be a final line of self-protection, you should use lethal force only if you have justifiable fear for your life. If its just a drunk guy who's getting "grabby" and not taking no for an answer, then a good hard knee to the testicles should give enough window to escape. But if someone follows you into an empty parking garage and goes at you with full violent intent, then it's kill or be killed as far as I'm concerned

How would anyone prove that rape was going to be the only thing that was going to happen? He don't want to get caught. How to prevent this is killing the only witness. The victim. By all means put me on that jury and my vote will be in favor of the woman. Any one committing a crime that will hurt someone should expect a bullet.

What if my son, try to reap a woman and she kill my son. I never know whntile i recive the news that he try that. It will bring more pain, for me and my wife and if he will never die, we whas takeing care of that: -hospital - psychiatry - izolation Why should you kill a person in order to create more sufer, i will accept: - electric shock guns -beats Maby the raper is a person whit mental problem and alredy a family sufer for him and want him healty, why will you take that chance forever.
