Do you believe that people had kinky sex 50 or 100 years ago?

Often, I hear young people talking about sex as if it is an idea that they dscovered and expanded and "kinky" sex is something that they especially developed. . . as if people 50 or 100 years ago only did the missionary position, lights out, after marriage. Do you think that people 50 or 100 years ago engaged in anal sex, threesomes, BDSM, and other varieties of kinky sex?

No, people in the past only did vanilla sex
Vote A
Maybe a few people in the past were kinky, but very few

People in the past were probably just as kinky as people today, but they didn't talk about it openly
Vote C
Something else that I'll explain in a comment

  • People were all "Hush hush" about it back then. There's a reason why in porn, some of them are called "Taboo", and there's a reason fetishes are called fetishes. Because "Normal" people don't have kinks, lol.

In some civilizations, they had orgies. Then, of course, there's the world's oldest profession, sportin girls they called them back then ) Prostitutes). A guy makes a girl money to have sex, there's aways more to it, lol. George Washington supposedly had orgies.

Like a lot of other people said here, history, lol

  • If you read any history of the Greeks or the Romans, you'll know that nothing is new.

  • I'm trying really hard not to giggle, man. How much Neanderthal cave art have you seen?

    • I know the answer to the question. I am trying to promote discussion.

  • I think all of the above are false premises, depravity comes and goes in waves over time in different cultures. There was this place called Rome you see... Also the whole swinger idea came out as an acceptable and spreading idea in the first suburb after WWII.

  • Sure! I don’t think sex has changed much…it may have been a different kind of kinky or hidden more, but I’m sure it existed

  • Yea they were doing stuff that would make your mother blush

  • People have been kinky for a long time. It may have been hidden behind closed doors, but no question.

  • You do understand that you can go to the library to answer this question, right?

    • "You do understand that you can go to the library to answer this question, right?" Of course I know that, but I already know the answer to the question. I am trying to promote discussion.

  • They've been doing kinky things for thousands of years. None of that stuff is new.

  • Probably… The difference is. Most were probably married in the bedroom and kept it there. They didn’t go out and tell the world their business.

  • Hell, yeah!! Didn't you ever hear of the Kama Sutra?

  • People in the past were probably just as kinky as people today, but they didn't talk about it openly

But they openly wrote about it.

Read the books of From by John Norman. There are 26 books in the series. They start in the late 1950s-1980s

  • I think people were more kinky n open before

    • I think you are right.. Kinky sex and open-minded sex has done earlier and people used to have fun in sex more open in early ages...

    • @Gramkabir yea true I wish it could be that way now too

    • are you into kinky sex?

  • Oh yes for hundreds of years even

  • It depends on where and what culture you're looking at. I'm sure the Ancient Greeks were just as kinky thousands of years ago, maybe even more so than today. but if you were looking at the Christian settlers of say America, no way in hell those people were kinky. It was extremely vanilla.

    • How do you know? You are making an assumption, right?

    • I grew up in a mennonite community and a lot of the early settlers were quakers or mennonites or Baptists, pennsylvania dutch , basically your orthodox Christians. Those traditional people still exist living in the same ways as the early settlers and they have rules about relationships and sex. Its very buttoned down and I don't think those types are kinky in the least. They believed sex was only for procreation. Masturbation was a sin on god.

    • But you are assuming that, behind closed doors, they do not engage in any hypocritical behavior. You may be right, but it's an assumption. There are certainly many Christians who do not always follow their beliefs.

  • Of course but no one spoke about it.

  • The Kama Sutra was written in ancient Sanskrit in India two millennia ago, and Song of Solomon is older.

  • It's nothing new, it's just talked about more now

  • Well I would believe it was more risky back then because of no advances in birth control or towards STIs

  • The sexual revolution made us more comfortable discussing sex. The openness has cooled down from what it was at that level. Yet it is far more open than it was. I think the key difference is that we now know and can learn kinks from other to try, rather than guessing if something would work.

  • kinky sex has always existed

  • People have ALWAYS had kinky sex, it's just become much more accepted since my young manhood.
