Its a grey area. I wudnt find it cheating in the strict sense as long as no photos are swapped or no emotion is involved. I adore roleplay and do it with quite a few girls, single and taken.

Yes, it is considered cheating. If he has feelings for you, he would not like it. If it does not bother him, then he does not care for you. That goes for you too. If you care for him, you do not do these things with other guys!
