Everyone can keep track and if it is a reasonable number of partners it is easy. If you can’t remember how many you have had then you are unsuited for marriage or a longterm monogamous SO.

And yes, your partner does need to know if you can’t even keep track as that is a behavior and personality trait that is not desired by many. So do what you want in terms of a high body count (greater than 8) but own that shit later as others will see it as valuable information about you that they should know sooner than later.
