I think a lot of people overdo the lube thing for anal. Maybe it's an inexperience thing, or just fear of things getting too dry, which can happen but is easily fixed.

I usually start by putting a butt plug in her to relax her and get her ready. It stays in during foreplay and vaginal sex, then comes out when I'm ready to do her in the ass. A little bit of lube is needed to get the plug in, but really not much. When I take the plug out and put my dick in I do not use any lube because if I do it ends up being too sloppy and less sensitive for both of us. I'll add a little saliva or vaginal juices if needed, but it's usually not necessary.
