Do you think this was true back in the 60's?

I recall a time in America in which young men and women were allowed to swim nude. I graduated high school in 1958. During that time nudity was not viewed as it is today. I attended a high school which allowed nude swimming. In those days boys had to be nude for gymnastics track or swimming. I recall they had to be nude for working out as well. Me and a few other girls were on the swim team with the boys. Us girls had to wear swimsuits. One day we begged our instructor to let us take off the swimsuits because they were causing us to itch. I was a sophomore in high school then. The instructor told us that would be fine and we got to swim nude with the boys. I remember all of us giggling and laughing as we removed our swimsuits. We jumped in the water and splashed around with the boys. We had so much fun! We swam nude with the boys a few other times after that because we were clever at talking our instructor into going nude because the swimsuits itched. I recall the boys going to a class nude for fun. The school teachers didn’t mind one bit. I remember a camping trip that we took with the boys. The boys went nude, and us girls wore a sweater and light skirt. Once we arrived at the campsite we had the option of going nude with the boys. We got to do all the things the boys did. We had so much fun. When we loaded up back on the bus we asked if we could stay nude on the bus ride back to the school building. Our camp director agreed. I recall hopping off the bus nude and getting into my mother's car to go home. We had so much fun in those days. Back then nudity was not viewed as it is today. It was just plain old fun. I recall hearing that nudity was no longer allowed in the school I attended. I believe it was in the late sixties. Students were complaining about not being able to go nude. I was disappointed to hear that the school decided to prohibit nudity.

Did this really happen? Who remembers back that far?

They ate to many mushrooms and imagined it. Or LSD will do this to you. Never happened. This person likes to have sex in front of kids or have sex with kids. Nude beach rights crap you hear.

You can also run around nude in hell guy's nut sack bouncing off your thighs, her boobs smacking him in the face. Too bad you will also be burning.

The country has no standards. Same sex bathrooms where guys pretend to be women , molest little girls. People meeting a person i minute already having sex. Women having 3 different men in same week. Not to mention lying 90% of the time. Cheating. Bribes. Judges making laws like legislator. Spending money they don't have. Stealing. People running up debts on credit cards they never plan to pay off.

It is a miracle the US Economy still functions with the fraud , high taxes, and breach of contracts going on.

Each generation fewer people will make it to Heaven. Think about it. God was more revered when country was founded. There were more churches than strip bars for sure. There were ethics and lines drawn that people didn't cross. Now it is almost against the law to mention God or pray in public. Strip bars out number churches. I really don't think this country will make it much longer. Really , it was losing morals that will be the end of it.

It IS true that boys were required to swim nude in many schools into the 60s, but girls were required to wear suits and were kept separate. That's not to say that there weren't an occasional exception here or there, but in general, the schools didn't let boys swim with girls, and the nude bus rides were either fiction or extremely unusual. Certainly not the mainstream experience. Same with the camping trips.

Of course, it was also common, into at least the 70s, for kids to bring guns to school during hunting season, and for schools to have shooting and archery classes. There were no school shootings because people were held responsible for their actions from a young age, and the rare exceptions would be expelled and sent to a reform school. Today, no one gets expelled and chaos in the classroom is the norm.

Kids are running wild in schools. That is why they can't find teachers to put up with it. That and the low pay and overcrowded classrooms full of non-English speaking migrants.

All of that and more. Too many parents treat school as daycare rather than the place where their child is supposed to learn and progress, and show little interest in their education. Many enforce no discipline or responsibility at home, so the kids show none at school. This is all the result of removing consequences at every level. In times past, there were consequences, so people took these things seriously.

I'm not old enough to remember the 1960's, but it is true that prior to the advent of the 21st century, nudity wasn't seen as such a big deal, as something to get all hot and bothered about. Many (uncensored by Disney, that is) films from that era show nudity, and sex too, especially films made during the 1970's.

I just called my dad to ask him. He is 78 and said yes boys swam nude at school and at the YMCA, but not at the public pools. He didn't know about the girls but mom chimed in and said NO girls always wore black suits supplied by the school

I grew up in the 1960's. People did serious drugs back then and hallucinated, but this nudity in high school never happened.

I graduated in 1961. We didn't have swimming at my school. Guys had to swim nude for swimming instruction at the WMCA and I never liked that. At all other times we had to wear swim suits. Never heard of the girls having to swim nude at any time or ever being allowed to do so. Never saw a girl nude at any time.

Freshman year in college I went to college in New York. There were separate pools for men and women. The guys had to swim in the nude. There was some deal about how bathing suit fibers clogged the pool filter. I took my Senior Lifesaving class buck naked. The girls did not have to swim naked from what I was told.

In HS, the guys had to swim nude. The girls had suits. The swim classes were separate regarding sex. Interesting to note that the swimming pool at the HS is now just an unused concrete hole.

Well I was just a toddler then, so I didn’t know what was really going on but I heard a lot of drugs were going on back then, and it was definitely a hippie age and maybe burn your bra type of thing was going on

My school didn’t have a swimming pool. So swimming at school didn’t happen. Skinny dipping in the local outdoor YMCA pool and the school reservoir, happened according to some friends.
Guns in the student parking lot were a reality. Even for show and tell in the classroom. Archery clubs too. Funny thing. No one was ever injured nor school shootings! Guess those guns were taught responsibility and respect for human life!
